    3B Handling not so Good?

Just been looking at reviews as the time in approaching to start looking for an s2. It will be my first s2 and came accross an article saying that the 3b with servo something or-other steering isnt as nice to drive on slower tighter corners as the aby. As its harder to feel the road and hard to hit the apex. Has anyone owned both a 3b and ABY and can agree / disagree with this comment, comparing the two. Also would lowering, and stiffening the suspention aid this?

    cheers guys

Unplugging the Bosch Servotronic would help.

had a 3b long time ago wasnt all that great but the ABy isnt that much better.
audi has a dead feel to its steering at low speeds.

Would this make it feel like the aby? or like it didnt have power steering at all?

I can live witout 6 speed box and all the other aby goodies, but if im going to lose that much feel for the road Id rather get a loan and be poor.

Makes the steering feel heavier, like a car with normal power assistance. Servotronic steering is much too light, if you've never driven Servotronic equipped cars you will be shocked at the way the wheel can be turned! I preferred my old CQ and 80 which both had normal PAS. But I can live with the way Servotronic feels or run without.

I'm another fan of the "servotronic mod". Steering is heavier and has a more 'direct' feel - i can feel the road thru my hands again!

Can someone please explain how the Servotronic can be 'unplugged'? Yeah.. I've always thought the 3B steering was a tad light. Good for parking, but a caant for understeer...

It's under the back seat - there are a couple of screws in the front edge to get the seat off, and the little box of tricks is there, I think it even says Servotronic on the casing. Just unplug and go! The mod is totally reversible if you want to revert to Servotronic assistance.

I have actually spliced into the live feed and mounted a switch on the dash so that i can turn on/off the servo assist at will, helps with parking ect.

I just did this "mod " recently and I must say I've hardly noticed it except that sometimes at certain speeds the steering used to feel like it switched from "normal" to "vague", a bit strange when you're half way round a corner, now it just feels normal all the time but a bit heavier when parking. The switch is a good idea..

I have noticed occasionally when setting off, the car starts in 'limp steering' mode and as soon as I hit about 30mph it tightens right up?

                            coilover question

after seeing in another post that a suspention kits cost almost as much to assemble as coilover kits I have decided to go for coilovers. But theres quite a few out there, I would want both adjustment on the height (which obviously all of them offer) and also to a certain extent on ride stifness. Whats the difference between different variants? (£600 kits and £1000 kits of the same brand?) Ive noticed the cheaper kits seem to have 3/4 parts per corner on the pictures and more expensive ones usually just 2.

What about this one below?? cant tell what brand they are??

                            cheers

ahh, more research has led me to belive this wont have any adjustment, bar ride height - kw variant 2 it is
