QC rear diff mount part #
My '90 QC had a bad rear diff mount. I didnt want to spend $200 on the whole housing and the mount. I found on this list that a rabbit (a mkI) tranny mount (i believe) works. I ordered the rabbit mount about a month ago. The offset of the center collar threw me a bit and i didnt want to chance it throwing the driveshaft alignment way off. I was comparing it to the powerflex bushing in my head. The powerflex has the inner collar centered so i was weary of using the rabbit mount. I did some digging on etka and found a part # for a rear diff mount out of an early '80's UrQ, part # 171 199 214D.
Audi discontinued parts for the Ur's so who knows how long these will be available. I love it, Audi has a 25 years of quattro celebration and stops supplying parts for the cars that gave them their name. nice.
Side by side the center collar offset is identical on the MKI tranny mount and the Ur audi diff mount. The only difference is the audi mount has the 2 rubber bumpers on each side (I'd assume to keep the diff mount housing from smacking into the holder on the subframe.)
My rear driveshaft cv is angled quite a bit with the new mount in there. My motor mounts are shot too so im sure that isnt helping the driveshaft angles at all. This car was not maintained well at all. I got the car cheap, but have put a lot into it so far.
The stock mount is too soft and with the driveshaft angle i'm not sure its the right one. Has anyone spent the $ for the rear mount and bracket? Is the center collar in the bushing offset or centered? I can feel the diff bouncing around over bumps and while cornering. Once i build the car (its a non-turbo
im in the usa) i'l do the powerflex bushings or fill the stock one with urethane.
