WR and MB got pressed wishbones and some of the earlier RR's got them too.the later RR's got cast alloy as did some of the 90Q(7a). i'm also sure i remember reading somewhere that there are also cast iron one's too.

RR s do not have cast alloy wishbones, they are cast iron!!

THAT pics are nearly what happend my car tooo. and i have made the bush of nylon(white) bt i used the org inner steel tubin,the are too tight, so you does have to make one of 304 or 316, and the inner steel tubin have to spinn, not seized when you are tighting the wishbone screw
im really happy that happend in really low speed,not when i had 100 miles on
i have the same part in my vw 32b quantum.....
Castings are notoriously brittle, I'm pretty sure the RR ones are forged steel and the later S2 ones are forged alloy.
Do you mean brittle under load or impact?
