Thats what i thought, so i now have taken a leaf out of the scooby doo forum and filled the headlights with helium to counteract this
I have changed two of these in the past, Not good.
Both had alot of miles 200.000 plus.
While your all checking your brackets have a good look at your left hand chassis leg, where it goes thinnest above the drive shaft, repaired cracked ones those too!!!
Could you show a photo of where you mean??

Right i am in the next 10 mins ordering a new bracket (Thanks for the Part No. Corey) it seems to have 2 parts according to etka??. Neva mind at £18 who cares. I took mine to work today and had it stress relieved then welded as a temporary measure then stress relieved again to do me until my new one arrives--No hard cornering for me . So to the list of things which make steering go vague, i think this has to be put to the top of things to check and cancel out.

Check all around the leg. crack usually starts underneath/underside of leg.

Yes Graham, perfect, just starts underneath. It may be a u.k only thing, IE we go around round abouts to the right ,Left hand chassis leg gets most pressure, just a theorey...of the cause.
Like I say I have repaired two already.

I'll check mine, it lived in UK up until 2004, then came out to OZ with me, and we drive on the same side as the UK so strains are the same. I'm glad i have got air con, but the winter pack is no longer any use (heated seats, door locks, bonnet washers etc)
