What contributes to chassis ride height?

Replaced the rear springs today for new ones, dampers are in great shape.

I thought there was a problem with one of my rear H&R springs as the right rear of the car was slightly lower than the left rear of the car.

Now with new Audi springs, there is still a discrepancy of about 2cm on the left and right from the road to the wheel arch.

    What else can it be?

There is a definite difference in the gap between the top of the tyres and the base of the wheel arch.

What does the front look like? If one of the front springs has sagged the oposite corner at the back will look high. Or the shell is twisted hope not, a mate of mine had a ur with a bent shell, got it straight on a jig though. Same symptoms as you describe.

Front looks fine. Had the whole suspension setup replaced just under 2 years ago.

I only noticed the difference at the rear about 2 months ago tops.

You could try putting the car on level ground, loosen the inner wishbone bolts on all 4 corners, bounce the car up and down a bit and retighten, with the weight on the wheels.

I have the same problem with my Avant. I first noticed it when I fitted some ebay bargain H&R springs but I've now swapped back to standard springs and still have the same lopsided rear.

I've been intending to get under the car and measure spring seats, subframe mounts etc in an attempt to find out what is wrong but I'm waiting for the warmer weather to come first.

Any clues on this would be greatfully received.

                Cheers

yes and no, its a slight difference and there is no issue with tracking, tyre wear, handling etc etc so its (very small) asthetic annoyance at the moment only. Will have a poke about when i change the bushes/droplinks/wishbones/topmounts and so on over the next couple of months.

Could it be the rear anti roll bar isnt sitting quite right, may need loosening off and re fitting with the car on the ground

The rear arb was the last thing I fitted, but it was only disconnected where it bolts to the chassis, not to the droplinks.

Have had no problems with handling or tyre wear either... it just bugs knowing something isn't quite right!

strut tops collapsed maybe tryed jacking car up as high as you can either side and measuring how far down the shocks drop do they drop down the same amount so they are still un even or do they drop down to the same level
.. all your nuts tight on the shock housings on the wheel arch and also i take it your tyres are the same either side so does this also mean the front wheels dont measure the same either on the front.. as you would expect the front levels to be of a little bit as well a few ideas for you to check .. its not the corpse in the back rolled over to one side is it ,,, ( dam coupe owners putting these ideas in my head)

Fill the tank up and see what happens, the springs will be for a fulled loaded car. If its still bugging you get the car 'corners weighed' for the load in the car when its most driven, fuel, luggage and people?
