    steering/brake resonance

    Hello,
94 s2 avant, porsche front brakes.

humming enough to get to the steering wheel on straights and on bends.
Touch of the brake pedal shuts it up for a moment, then its back again.
Put a bit of brake cleaner about(no need really) pads have got 6mm left(anyone got any? pm me please)

Also round roundabouts at 30-40 mph, right hand down

    Discs are ok, any ideas?
    Cheers

Had an intermittent similar problem of recent, thought it was a wheel bearing at first but decided to wait and see if my replacement pads would sort it out...

The insides of the discs turned out being knackered on both sides, suspect this is what caused it, as the issue has not reoccurred since! i also made sure I greased up the backs of the pads with copper slip which I've heard is worth doing from time to time if you start getting vibes through the 996 calpiers...

yep, need to take the pads and pins out, give them a clean and lube up with slip and should cure the probs. Make sure the pads move freely on the main pin on the 996 as mine was covered in cr*p and they weren't returning properly...
