    Handling....

I've had a good look through the info on the forum regards understeer and toe/camber/castor etc but wanted to ask again for any recent developments or advice....

I want to try and reduce the inherent understeer on the car - especially on-power understeer by tweaking the geometry. Has anyone any proven recommendations?

The car is presently stock, with new wishbone bushes, top mounts and a recent 4 -wheel alignment. There will be a 19mm Neuspeed RARB with poly bushes fitted in 3 weeks courtesy of Corey at Quattronics.

    Any suggestions welcome.

    Cheers,
    RS2+ (now sold...)

The RARB will help, and adding more camber in the front are also a smart move to fight understeer

The stiffer RARB will greatly reduce understeer. I would also suggest trying a couple of psi extra to the rear tyres. I run up to 38psi front and rear on my coupe, or 34 -36 at the back depending if I want it a bit more forgiving in the wet. This is on 225/40/18s RS2 Farb and Whiteline RARB.

I have similar questions for my Coupe. I am currently rebuilding the suspension I have coilover sleeves and will be picking up some 350-450 lb springs for it (thinking 400 front and 450 rear with helper springs). I also have a CQ front swaybar for the rear and a RS2 front swaybar for the front. goal is good street setup that will be decent on track. Car will also have 255/40-17 tires. Is this a good setup? I;ve been told move the RS2 to the rear? this is a late build US spec CQ.

why you going stiffer at the back?

id say you would be better with 350 on the rear and 400 on the front

the only mod that can reduce understeer "on power" is LSD ( V8 torsen) at the back.

Because on oem set up the inside back wheel will start spining when you apply power coming out of the curve so when the center torsen feel it it wheel send torque to front wheel making your car understeer. It will be even worse with stiffer neuspeed 19mm RARB as the car will go easyer on 3 wheel.

The thicker RARB is to get less understear off throtle going in the curve.

Rear LSD is to get Overerstear going out of the curve WOT, all the power will go to outside back wheel (even more this time if you have 19mm RARB) making nice drift.

It will be even better if you also change your center Torsen for one like this:

RS2 chip by mihnea,PKM short IM, forge dump valve, 3" custom stainless exhaust, 18"X8" Porsche 996 rims, conti contact 245/35 Front 225/40 Rear, QR sport top mount, Powerflex bushes, aloy sub frame bushes, neuspeed 19mm RARB,Hard tranny mount, V8 torsen on RS2

If this link doesn't work check this one:

                    then select differential

                      MaRS2,

Have you got one of these fitted? It's a possibility on the list for my next round of driveline modifications. Either the Stasis or the B7 S4/RS4 centre torsen.

Am I correct to assume that the centre diff the same for Avant/Coupe? Watch the price of used centre diffs rocket as they get bought up + sent state-side for modding

Ben, when is this monster Avant of yours gonna be unveiled? So far the spec seems incredible. Will it ever be finished??

The road is long with many a winding turn Jason (the wizard) has decreed that before we go mad with the engine we are going to build a new driveline for it. This is going to cost me a small fortune to build but what the hell. I've estimated around £3000 on bits not including a gearbox We need to sit down and decide what we are going to use though and how to go about it (and which bank I am going to rob)

This is why you need stiffer springs and dampers to reduce body roll and not only all to stiff ARB's. Using FARB's in the rear together with near stock springs is not the best solution if you got some power
