    Interesting!

How would that work with a V8 rear diff? Are we talking the ultimate combo for the S2?

I believe the Whiteline RARB gave me les understeer on and off the throttle, if you corner hard enough to lift the inside rear wheel you will have less tyre on the road at the back and the back of the car will go sideways more easily.
( IMHO and I drive an S2 set up as above, both arbs and Konis and a non Torsen ur with no RARB and Billies all round.) Both my cars are on stock springs, the roads round here don't allow for anything else.

I want to try and reduce the inherent understeer on the car - especially on-power understeer by tweaking the geometry. Has anyone any proven recommendations?

The car is presently stock, with new wishbone bushes, top mounts and a recent 4 -wheel alignment. There will be a 19mm Neuspeed RARB with poly bushes fitted in 3 weeks courtesy of Corey at Quattronics.

        Any suggestions welcome.

        Cheers,
The recent answer I have found is to set the RS2 up with -1o camber at the front. Incredible reduction in understeer. Downside is increased inner tread wear which I am monitoring but it feels like a different car

Ben/everyone can you tell me if the B5 RS4 6spd gearbox code:FDP has the wide and hardened first gear and center torsen?

I hope to mate one to my ABY lump and V8 rear torsen.

Thought I should post an update on the handling on the car post 19mm Neuspeed RARB.

In a word - Awesome! The bar has transformed the car's quick cornering ability - it now goes around bends really well - both on and off power...
It's just what I wanted to achieve.

I moved the bar up from weakest to medium setting over the weekend and the difference is again quite noticiable.

I've a track day next Thursday at Snetterton and will let you know how I get on. The best thing is that I've not even tried the firmest setting yet!!

Thanks again Corey for the excellent advice and fitting!!

NB: I found that the RARB can only be adjusted to medium and firm with the wheels on the ground. If off the ground the bar/droplinks will foul the rear handbrake cable/lower suspension arms...

Glad you've got it handling as you want it, the stock S2 handling is very safe, never driven an RS2 but I can imagine it's soemwhere close.

If you want even more turn-in then a stock S2 FARB woul help more (awaits outrage!).

Wouldn't fit on the back of an Avant though.

As a side note we are working with Whiteline at the moment to come up with a complete solution for both the Coupe and Avant.

It's early days yet and I won't commit to a time scale as yet. Whiteline only received the front bar last week and then it has to wing it's way across to Oz and then and then... but watch this space as this forum will be the first to hear and see the finished results.

I now race in the VW Challenge with a Golf Mk1. I was very shocked to find out you can actually set up a FWD car to oversteer All you do is no FARB, the biggest RARB you can find (some people weld a 1" crowbar into the rear axle), very very hard springs at the back, 2.5 degrees negative camber in front and 1 degree at the cack and lastly you run 1.8 Bar tyre pressure front and 3.2 Bar at the rear.

Because the Mk1 had a solid rear axle it tended to lift a rear wheel when cornering hard. If the rear starts to slide (and you can only do this in slow corners) the front gets back to the ground and you can power away.

My S2 has always understeered even with a race spec suspension. I have a Whiteline at the back (stiffest setting) and had a RS2 FARB till recently. I have now gone back to my S2 FARB, fitted a 944T LSD at the back and put in softer springs in front and no more understeer - it actually oversteers quite predictabily. I haven't even started to play with camber and tyre pressures yet.

Bottom line - if you go extreme enough you can easily get a S2 to oversteer.

Any details on fitting the 944T LSD? Could you start a BTDT thread on the matter?

That's pretty much what I would consider to be the optimal s2 suspension kit (minus the solid bushes and mounts, I'd have stuck with OE to retain a bit of compliance and vibration and noise dampening), it really brings the S2 alive. Good work!

                                Damn I miss my S2.
