Rebuilding is easy to do as long as you keep things organized and clean.
Thank you saltinot for the info and link. I should be receiving a NOS pump today which was only $60. I am hoping that will fix my issue.
I might just buy the repair kit you suggest and keep a spare pump on hand.

You're welcome! I bought a couple of extra kits and rebuilt some pumps to keep as spares. Too cheap not to buy a spare. I just used one of the kits to rebuild the pump on my son's D2 S8. Same kit.

Installed new pump and still have similar issues with loss of steering wheel pressure while at higher RPM's and in the boost. The new pump did calm the darting quite a bit, but i still have some what of a ghost steering where the steering wheel just turns slightly left or right when getting on the throttle and the car is going straight.
My next move will be to pull the steering rack and either find a different company to rebuild or find a replacement rack.

Purchased another steering rack, but not the same part number, but was told it is the same.
Spent a day removing and installing new rack. I drove the car and have the same issue where the steering wheel will loose pressure and turn slightky while the wheels stay straight, I also noticed a slight pulse, which you can feel in the steering wheel when getting off the throttle.

I have replaced both steering pump and rack, so needless to say, I am a bit lost right now not knowing what next to try.

I'm still thinking it's the pipe. Sounds how mine behaved. Can you extend your original pipe?

The hose is the only thing that is not OEM, so it could be the issue. Both ends of the high pressure line were reused, so the ID going into the pump and rack are the same. You mentioned a valve or something in the OEM high pressure line.....is there a drawing or a part number? I dont have anything in the new line that was built, so if there is suppose to be a valve in the line, that could be the issue.

it's part of the pipe. Not a separate part. Definitely got to be the problem. I did exactly the same as you did. Had to get a genuine pipe.

                    Thanks for the help
