That's not ideal! Are there any threads on here about that? Having just done the rear SF that'll be out a bit, just my luck! Why is it not a positive location? The 4 bolts are clearance but not by much, wonder what sort of angle you can get it out by, can't be very much as there isn't that much clearance. And what do you align it all to in the first place. Seems very odd to me.

Cheers for the heads up though.

I must have "Please mess me about, I'm a prick" tattooed on my forehead! (no responses required!!!) What is it with me and wheel bearings that spells disaster!?

Picked up the hubs last night, was checking them over and was reassured by the bloke that they were just right so put them back in teh box and left. Brilliant I thought, so I went home and started to wire brush the hubs ready for a coat of paint... half way through I noticed that the carrier was a little loose... . Upon inspection it became obvious that the numpty had put the bearing in bact to front and it was ALL WRONG.

Went back, told him to sort it. Can't do it today he said... usual BS... Get home, start to assemble the side that was ok... phone goes off. Your bearing is done, I'm here to 6 if you can come back. It's 5:50. Great! Back in the car, go back down and get the now completed hub. Not happy as I'm sure it'll have damaged the bearing but no other choice for the moment.

So that's 3 trips of about 5 miles return in 1 hour, all of which I had to be chaufeured for... And I had really hoped that the place would do a good job. What a load of ********. Problem is that I want the same place to check over the head and even block and no I'm not so sure.

      AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!

Well there is Mikes site describing removal and reinstalling of the rear SF, doesn't say anything about any special aligning other than tightening sequence, and Mike is a stickler for detail.

            Subframes

I don’t think the rear subframe has any adjustment at the fixing points so you may not need to worry. The front subframe does I have read have 1 fixed and 3 adjustable points. If you search on the database under ‘front subframe’ there are some posts advising how to set it up when you need to. I’m not sure anyone’s posted the official Audi method of setting it up though.

Got the car all back together last night and went for a drive with almost all the rear interior removed . Lots of noise! Loved it!

I haven't cured the whine that I hoped was wheel bearings so rear diff or prop bearing are the likely candidates now. It's nothing really so I'll leave it for now and see if it gets worse, makes fault finding much easier!

Keep getting confused when driving the car round corners because it really is noticeably flatter with the RARB upgrade (of course!). Sharp corners are a completely different experience with better turn-in and less understeer, much more confidence inspiring, looking forward to my roundabout ridden drive to Brissol Friday night and the road trip to MRC on Sunday. Rather pleased with it for the moment, have to see if it all stays in one piece! Have held off fitting my new rear drop links just in case!
