I've got exactly the same symptoms on my S4..... what was the verdict my friend? what did you do and did it fix it?
It turned out to be the engine mounts.
Problem gone for months now....
But now, only a few days ago, the humming vibration is back with a vengeance at any speed over 80km/h even in a straight line so I'm still investigating but I'm suspecting brakes or bearings. Will post the final result once it's running smooth again !
Having these exact symptoms myself. 996 monoblocs over 323x30 rotors. No noise or vibration in the city but when I get out on the highway, it shows up after about 10-15 minutes of driving at speed. Sounds to me like the left front. Definitely feel it in the steering wheel and it's quite loud and pretty high frequency too. Slight movements of the steering wheel make is go away briefly. Doesn't seem like a bearing as typically a bad bearing will whine louder on sweeping turns. Mine is pretty much only on straight ahead driving. Wheel bearings are new as of two years ago too. My gut feeling is that the pads are vibrating against the discs. The discs are pretty new and look smooth, although I haven't inspected the inner surface. Let us know what you can find!

Actually, it turned out to be a combo of two issues.
My power-steering pump was leaking and failing. Replaced it with one of tot's second hand ones.
