    How to change driveshafts?

I finally found out where my vibration came from. It was the left driveshaft. Does anybody have a pic that shows what to be changed / and how? Couldn't find a D.I.Y

      Front or rear driveshaft?

Search for wheel bearing replacement or similiar

once you have the hub removed you will then need a torx bit (I cant remember the size) to undo the inner driveshaft guibo bit . You will need to remove the protective metal cover to that before you can get access to the bolts iirc

Make sure the heads are as clean as possible and tap the torx bit in to be sure as you really DONT want to round one of them out.

Then refit new driveshaft (are you replacing CV joint at the same time?), grease the CV joint suitably, and redo the removal steps insuring you use only new main bolts.
Make sure they are to the correct torque which is on S2 central or S2-audi iirc

I always loosen the torx bolts on the inner joint while the car is on the ground/ramp or with an assistant holding it on the brakes... If you disconnect the outer joint then try to undo the inner joint then you will soon be swearing at the sky as its a ****** locking the driveshaft otherwise.

                .

                Hi

I found this thread using the search function.

I have just tried, albeit on my 2.0 16v ACE car,to change the nearside front driveshaft.

Can anyone tell me what bit I need to remove the bolts securing the inboard CV to the gearbox??

                Cheers
                Steve

They're NOT Torx, they're triple-squares. You can get into real trouble using Torx drivers on them, and even Halfords sell the correct drivers.
