interesting Si. I thought the spring was probably what i could hear, but not sure why.
It definately did not do this before i changed the topmounts, whether that has something to do with it or not Something is not right, and it must be something to do with the strut set-up somehow

i took a strut off and completely dismantled it - The inserts are fine with no play in them
then i put it all back together off the car to see how it went together and noticed the reason i think why it won't tighten down properly..... the top cup cannot be tightened down to hold the top-mount tight into the turret adn stop there being play there which is what has knackered my top-mounts in the space of 4 weeks
Here is what is have on my Koni inserts:
Then assembled:
The top cup cannot tighten down any more becasue it seats against the slotted nut - can't tighten that down any more, it is already nipped up tight with the curved washer, then spring seat with the top mount on that.
Totally confused as to how this is supposed to go together properly
there will always be too much gap between the turret and the top cup, unless i need to use a different design of top-mount - WTF??!!
Totally confuzzed - this seems to have nothing to do with the strut insert itself and all to do with how the top mount and parts are assembled - have it got it together wrong??!
Or have i got the wrong slotted nut on there which is causing problems?
