Type 85 UR quattro is 1300kg stock weight. I'm hopingto get that down to nearer 1050kg, doing a full parts list of weights in LB's and KG's.

The reality of the early 'stock' , or curb weights quoted were they were short on fluids etc, many many years ago I parked a standard 2.2i KE engined GT on a weighbridge with a 1050 curb (book weight) with less than a quarter of a tank of fuel, no spare wheel and no driver... The bridge registered 1150kg....
So erm, the more you park a car on a weighbridge the better you'll understand just how heavy 'light' cars are... And as for heavy ones (like our B6 A4 Avant... Full of family, fuel, Top box and packed to the gunwalls... - must be close to 2 metric tonnes)85 WR Urquattro, 85 20vT International liveried RallyRep

I think generally you're right.
Although, taking away say roughly 3/4 of a 60 litre tank, maybe 45Kg ish.... (what's the density of tesco 99?) I would say the RS2 is about bang on with it's stated weight.
Wasn't it advertised as weighing about 1595 Kg?RS2+ (now sold...)Comment

Are the Avant tanks smaller?? 68-70 for a coupe?
Either way about 3/4 tank is going to be 45-50 litres, so that'll be about 32-36kg...
...which gets the original RS2 weighbridge result down to just a few kg over the 1595kg listed above (1604-1608 excluding the listed fuel level, remember that fuel level is estimated).
Can Lloyd tell us if the car is totally stock or has aftermarket wheels, for example?Martin Cutting

Good points raised there, which I had rather conveniently forgotten....
Avant tank is smaller than the coupe at 60l (read this somewhere on here)
Car has Milltek catback zorst and cup 1 18" wheels (as sported recently on Dan's (Sherv) late black RS2 and still on Rob's GT500 RS2) not sure if these are lighter or heavier overall than the OEM's with tyres.
The OEM exhaust is without doubt a LOT heavier than the milltek. Maybe x2?

I work in the bicycle biz, where we count grams, so I have transferred my weight weenie-ism to automobiles as well. I weigh my RS2 pretty frequently, and it normally weighs in at approx 1530kg, with approx. 10 liters of fuel left in the tank.
No spare (-20kg), lightweight battery (-10kg), deleted aux rad (-4kg), aluminum spare wheel well cover replaced with high density styrofoam (-3kg).
Milltek 3" stainless cat back exhaust shaves punds too.
A full tank of gas weighs approx 45kg, so filling up less saves much weight. Filling up 20-30l saves 25-30kg.
Other cars:
1994 FWD 80 Avant with 2.0E: approx 1290kg with close to full tank.
The Mk2 Golf weighs in at a feathery 925kg (gutted).
Just weighed a 05 B6 1.8T Quattro Avant, and it weighed in at 1610kg with a full tank of gasoline. Ran an effortless 0-60 in 7.9secs with a full tank.1995 RS2 on Alcohol (6.8sec 100-200km/h)
