Steering gone to **** very strange .

I gave the car some right foot from the lights while turning left,as the front nearside spun up the
wheel hopped a little then when i straightened up the car pulled to the left quite badly
a few hundred yards later turning right i herd a clonk and the car straightened up.
ive looked at the steering and track rod end and looks ok,i do know i need the tracking doing as the nearside wheel is toeing out ,ive been out again and all feels ok any ideas,i will be having it four wheel tracked pretty soon cheers.

Something is broken or loose! I'd guess the toe out is caused by something moving, I think I'd check where the track rods fix to the steering rack and the rack mounts.

Bottom ball joints where they bolt into the wishbones too, if one of those is loose it could move in and out and affect the tracking.

Check the alloy bracket that holds the track rod arms to the rack, this has been known to crack.

Jack the car up and have a tug around on the wheels to see if there's anything obviously loose.
I had a lower ball joint come loose once. That was scary.

Sounds like lower ball joint. Worth checking with the wheel in the air, you won't see anything wrong just by looking.

Think i found the problem ,the bolt at the top of the bell housing was hanging out
and touching the bolts on the steering rack took ages to tighten back up tight as hell
,also had a fu misshap at the weekend with some steering, was test driving bike powered
track\road car when the quick rel steering wheel came off in my hands,we did some hedge cutting at 60mph untill i got the wheel back on ,if you have seen trains ,planes
and automobiles when they pass through two trucks slight wheel damage ,green paint and side rads full of leaves

the pathway for the steering rack on these cars is dangerous IMO, i can't believe the number of pipes and wiring that pass so close to it, if any brakets or ties give up, something ends up resting, rubbing or chaffing on the rack rod or arms. At least you found the problem, I guess the clonk was the bracket finally getting over the bolt......scary!

driving with no steering wheel attached nice and yes Planes, Trains and Automobiles is one of the funniest films ever.....the bit where they cross the runway makes me die!
