No it wasn't new but was cheap.

    Tell me about it!

TBH its not a massive issue to rebuild a used rack before it goes in, IIRC someone did a useful how to recently and the seal kits are available

Just remembered this from Stu's great rebuild how-to

Mine does make some odd sounds if i wiggle the wheel when stationary and has some play in the steering, so i'm going to try a little bit of adjustment on the pre-load to see if that has any effect on sharpening it up.

Just nipped out and checked mine as I'd thought I'd like a quick rack also, but mine appears to be just over 2.5 turns lock to lock, so presumable 2.65 as mentioned earlier in this thread.

Pretty sure the car and the rack are original.

The U.S. cars must have a greater number of turns L to L and therefore there's a market, but presumably we'd (Europe) have to do a group buy of 2.0 turns or less lock to lock? One would have thought that it is only the rack and the pinion that would have to be made up?

          My tuppence.

          Regards.
