Good point re costs. Go on do it and then everyone on this Island can experience same first hand from the passenger seat at the next big Irish S2 meet in 2009?

    Kind regards.

Mmmm I am tempted... but I have a recollection that someone (mcandmar ?) has some prior with K&W on this island and reckoned they might be too stiff for the bumpy back roads. I essentially want a tarmac rally car setup that can handle the bumps and yumps - not a touring car setup which needs pristine flat surfaces.

for the gurus.... how more it´s better the v1 or v2 KW suspension in the coupe than the "oem" stock suspension and springs????

AFAIK - the main benefit is adjustablility ---> for ride height, and damper bump and rebound.

My only suspicion is that the springs might be too harsh for bumpy tarmac, but I could be wrong on that...

EDIT - just checked their website...

V1 is for adjustable ride height only
V2 also has adjustable damper rebound (NOT bump)

V2 is only adjustable in Rebound (Koni), the Springrate on the V1 and V2 is only 70N/mm, wich is not much for these Cars. A better option would be a 90N/mm Springrate in Front...

And don't forget when ordering these that the 'B4' type is for S2 Avant or S2 Saloon...
Whilst their '89Q' type is for S2 Coupe - which is strictly speaking a 'B3' but I'll let them off.

Looks like good stuff and I forgot they went to all the pains to get German TUV approval on these - the official docs are on the KW website - in German. Pity about the yellow and purple color combo... I can't justify it to myself - maybe next year...

How does that 70N/mm compare with factory S2 springs - do you have that info ?

I'd like to know it for H&R springs too of course - danger of going off topic here......

My calcs put 70N/mm at 400lb/in and 90 at 510.

Reading from motorgeek anything up to 650/700lb springs seem to be used on CQs. My mate's VX220 has 475/550 and that's half the weight!

OEM Front Springs should be arround 25-30N/mm
The Springrates @Motorgeek are made for the KW Competition Kit, i was testing these Kit 6 Years ago, and these are the Results.
Rates, depense on the use, between 90N/mm and 180N/mm are common.

i know when i bought mine i had the option of selecting my own spring rates, no extra cost but decided that KW prob knew better than me lol. at the end of the day new springs only cost £20 so changing them at a later date isnt the end of the world....i'll be beefing up my front springs, they have 2 options for the S2, one with air-con one without...i opted for the without ones but regret that now as i feel the front is too soft.....(i have no turbo aswell!!!, 7A)

I'm still confused by what they need in return? I'm looking to change out my tired old koni shocks and h&r springs and get coilovers. These prices are a lot cheaper than I've been seeing online, but I've also realised that we're in December now...

They don't need anything and the prices are cheap because this thread is from 2008!

Oh my haha. That was a Sunday moment. I was just scrolling down the suspension section and it was so close to the top I just assumed it was recent
