How are your engine mounts? Is the engine sitting low?

The engine is sitting a bit low john,not really sure how to check the subframe mounts other than to get a lever bar in there and see if there is any play in them,which there isn't,cause I have tried that already
Got a few ideas to try and eliminate the problem,seeing as it quite apparent which side the noise is coming from.Going to change out the shock,if no joy then change the engine and g'box mount with some spare ones I have lying around
If no joy,gonna get the marshmallows out and toast them over a nice warm avant

If you've got the 20p size mark on the sump, I'd say your engine mounts are maybe a bit worn. Hit a bump, the sump hits the subframe and there's your knock.

What is the best way to establish wether the engine mounts are boogered or not?
That mark on the sump is still there Jase,but managed to wedge a bit of thick rubber between the subframe and the sump to try and rule the noise out.....noise is still there
