Who knows, maybe some engineer at Porsche just dislikes the plastic. Probably had a bunch of plastic toys from Hong Kong as a kid.

A line up of all the suspects. RS2 at the top; 80q (B4) middle; and your S2 plastic one on bottom.

Firstly, thanks for all the replies. Great to get differing views to see all angles of perspective. It's quite worrying to read that a plastic one snapped on a TDi, that is a little off putting but I guess it could quite easily happen to a metal one too if the manufacturing process wasn't quite right. I presume the RS2 item is interchangeable with the S2 Avant? Is there any difference with the RS2 and S2 items?

They are all interchangeable with exception of the aftermarket Febi metal ones, they are slightly longer by ~5mm.

The lengths of the RS2 and S2 drop links are identical. The diameter of the link rods differ.

Ordered a nearside RS2 rear drop link from Quattro Corner this afternoon. £35 I think it came too, Pete said they're around double that from Audi, and couldn't be bothered ringing round for different prices so it should be here tomorrow, fitted Saturday

Thanks for all the replies, as usual, extremely helpful

Oh yeah, lind4hl - out of interest, how much could you make them for and what would the benefits be to that design?

I thought that, but couldn't be bothered shopping around - no net access at work and limited calls per day so went with it as I wanted them for Saturday. If I wanted front ones I could've got the pair for £30!! Which sounds a bargain, sadly no such luck this time...

first of all, no original sloppy bushing or what you call it in each end

if you lower the car you need shorter droplinks (measure center-> center in the holes when tha car is on the ground without droplinks on) for best handling ( only necessary when doing a track weapon, daily driver is not so smart)

price would be rather pricy, because of uniballs aint cheap, not seamless pipe either, something about 150€ for 1 pair

Just in the process of ordering front OE drop links for my RS2.
I ordered some from Pete Reeves a while back, and assumed they were going to be OE links, wrong again They were Fabi, should of realised you don't get somert for nowt

When I removed old links soon realised they were thicker than Fabi ones.
The Fabi ones are like the links in middle of the three pictured above.

Looks like PN for oe links is a bit elusive, few different numbers flying around, so I've got Audi Bradford onto it.
I'll let you know the outcome.

The Fabi links will be for sale if I get the OE ones sourced.

                            Just getting back with correct P/N A8A0 407 465 C connecting link B03

The above is taken from my invoice.

The links I can confirm are the thicker ones at top of pic.

Hope the info might be of help.

Anyone wanting some unused Fabi front drop links?
