Steering Rack On 3b To Replace

Hi Guys
I have searched and searched but cannot find what i need, i have two questions for you.

First one is, Will an RS2 Steering Rack fit a 3B Coupe???
Second one is, Will the aby 6 Speed Gearbox fit the 3B Engine, eg mating up etc??

rs2 rack into a 3b is YES...just need to delete the servotronic as the ADU rack doesnt have a plug for it...BTDT

Yes but you wont be able to use pervotronic.

IIRC ABY and ADU racks are the same.

same rack as the ABC (2.6) and AAH (2.8) engined coupes too so don't got paying over the odds just cos its from an S or an RS

I've had servotronic unplugged for years so that does NOT matter <; OR is there something related to servotronic/the steering rack that I need to remove while changing/fitting the new steering rack?


EDIT: yeah, I found in ETKA that both ABY and ADU is 895 422 065 C !


EDIT2: Error404: does the ABC (2.6) and/or AAH (2.8) steering rack have servotronic or not? or are they also the same as ABY/ADU?

Ah just realised you are LHD

Not sure if the LHD racks are the same for the ABY / ADU and the V6 engined cars - for RHD they are the same

no just pull the lead from the rack and also from the control unit under the seat

One more question <: how do you remove the steering rack from the car?

ABY:
I've removed 4x 17mm nuts on the left/middle
I've removed 2x 6mm hex bolts through the wheel housing
I've removed 2x 19mm banjos on the rack itself

It's loose but I can't pull it out yet.. have I forgotten/missed any nuts/bolts? how do I proceed?


3B:
Haven't begun yet, want to know a little bit more in advance!

1. what should be removed in preparation?
2. is the servotronic just a plug/loom to remove?
3. any tips on what path you remove the rack through? up? down? etc

The control arm on the rack also needs freeing as it is attached to the steering column, its inside the car just behind the bulk head.

Its an incredibly difficult task to remove the rack with the engine in place.
I not as easy as Up/Down. Just free it up and start to move it, you'll find the best path once its lose.
You dont have to remove the servo loom. Just unplug it under the rear seats and on the rack.

Well well, we are there ladies and gents.. its time for the maaaaain event of the evening.. fitting the ABY steering rack to the 3B coupeeeeeeee


Anyways, I read about some restrictor valve something something.. is there something that I need to do besides draining the hydro fluid, removing the 3B steering rack + servotronic loom before fitting the ABY steering rack?

Anything at all?


Or, like Nike says, just do it?
