Solid top mounts - fitting problems

I put my car into a 'Specialist' to have a few bits and bobs done, one thing was to have a set of new top mounts fitted http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Audi-S2-80-All...3%3A1|294%3A50 After they fitted them the nut kept backing off the after just a couple of miles, has anyone else had this problem? I had an older set of these fitted to the car before and they never seemed to do this, although the garage threw away my old ones, so I can't compare the two. I've got standard ones fitted just now, but would prefer to go back to solid one.

    Any help/experiences would be handy!

    Cheers

is the bearing inside working correctly?
    did you use new lock-nut?

One thing i've learned we are way behind the Scandinavians!

I'm not sure, I'd imagine that is must be because it's brand new, but I don't know, I couldn't look at it as the car was miles away and I didn't have another car to get down for a look.

These don`t use a lock nut as the nut is an integral part of the sleeve wich passes through the "ball". A few drops of thread lock should do the trick.

Keep us posted on quality and reliablity on these puppies if you can. I`m experiencing steering problems this season and the only moving part I`ve changed are the top mounts you have. It`s to early to say if they are the ones at fault, I need to do some more testing. One thing is sure and it`s not a streering rack issue as I had it overhauled because I thought that it was the culprit at first.
Now you see me, now you don`t

Said it before these things are pants, I had them on my old Coupe and was forever tightening them up. Buy pro mounts or 034 mounts.

Jas11n made a tool to do this but I don't believe he still has it.

            .

Problem with the Pro Mounts is they only work with 'Billies' shocks...right? and not Konis?

I'm waiting for a forum member to finish his mounts...really want to move to a decent spherical bearing.

Maybe i'll trial them in my 90 first.

Why do pro mounts only work with Billies? strange one got any proof of this? as if they work with stock shocks ( few members have them on stock setup ) they'll work with Koni

Do promounts work with KWs? As I'm planning on ordering some.

That's why i put the '?' marks...thought they had been designed around 'Billies'...please prove me wrong...

Now where is Mance's website...can never find it...

I've got V3's and the solid top mounts together......i maybe ignorant hear but i've only driven a few miles(way too busy at the moment-move, house reno, etc) but i've had a boinging noise at turn that sounds like springs unloading and not sure what the issue is yet.

Are those with KW's own top mount or the top mounts that I've posted at the top of this thread?

Why don,t the manufacturers put a small grub screw in the side of the lock nut, this surely would prevent the locknut from coming loose, yes maybe it would damaged the thread slightly but if you not going to be taken them off every 5 mins it wont matter.

Or even 2 thin lock nuts??

One and the same it would seem.
