Noisy power steering help

A couple of questions I have had my s2 1991 coupe parked up for 3 weeks on a hill and now the red warning light is lit and there is a noise when the steering is turned sounds like low hydraulic pressure.I have checked the level and when you pull the sensor out you can just see the fluid. There is oil leaking (not dripping) lower passangers side running on to the subframe mounts I cant see where its coming from.what oil do I use to top up?
Help as MOT due Friday and I guess it will fail with the noise and light on!!

A common leak is split hose at bottom of the expansion tank... You should be able to effect a temporary repair with tank tape as this hose is NOT under high pressure. Clean up the worst of the mess and see if it holds oil... Use nothing other than VAG own G2000 - a green mineral oil - quite cheap... When you top up, be sure to purge air by going from lock to lock on steering with the engine idling a few times.

sorry to hijack your post , but i've got an audi 90q, which makes a noise when i turn
the steering wheel to lock (not all the time though), but i also hear a hissing noise when i release my brake pedal, are these 2 symptoms linked??

same problem here! I've checked my power steering fluid aswell and the level is fine? but it sounds like there is'nt any fluid in?

Hello, on my S2 Coupe ABY I had change the PAS pump because for me power steering was too noisy and too hard, also with this PAS pump I had the same problem I think, for some minutes all run fine, power steering was less hard and not noise, then when the oil was hot problem come back, can be the power steering box the problem?
Mine RS2 with larger tyres have a less hard and noisy power steering.
