    Major Power steering pump problem

The O ring on the cover of the power steering pump keeps letting go. I think the power steering pump relief valve keeps blowing on my Audi 100 S4 (urS4). Changed the O ring 3 times and made sure it's tight, but it keeps blowing?? Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Tim

Are you using a genuine O ring from Audi? I had a similar problem with the O ring leaking and I tried a few std rubber O rings which failed to cure it. I bought a new screw and O ring from Audi ( about £5 ) and it's been fine for over a year now.

Thanks for the quick reply. No I didn't use an Audi one, you'd think when you've seen one o'ring you've seen them all . I didn't think you could buy a new screw and ring from Audi. I know it's a big ask but you don't have the part numbers at all.
        Thanks.

You need a coper washer not o ring ruber thing. If the pump doesn t make any noises except losing power steering fluid it is ok.I had same problem with mine.

You can t buy the washer separately from the pump from Audi dealer.

I went to change the plug today and my mate lost the cap that sits on top of the spring. Does anyone with ETKA know if you can order a new one. Otherwise I'm screwed!!!

Personally i'd get a different pump, had this on my reconned PAS pump but it went twice, got a 2nd hand pump problem solved.

I will if the new plug does not fix it. Trouble is I can't try without the cap that holds the spring in place.

not available as a seperate part as far as I can tell.

You may be able to refit the plug without the cap

You lost the cap with cross section? or the inside one?
The inside cap comes first then the spring and then the plug with the oring.
That cap is actualy the piston.
                            Take care!

I've replaced mine a few times with genuine plug/ o rings. Does anyone have the part number for the power steering pump on an ABY Coupe, would like a spare pump if anyone can help?
