    Lowering springs

Anybody tried these cheap springs on eBay? Any good or avoid at all costs? Are there any reasonably priced (i.e sub £250) sets of coilovers available for a quattro Coupe?

Not heard of anyone running those springs, but I don't expect their up to much.

A new set of quailty coil-overs is going to be the thick end of a grand.

My advice would be to go for H&R springs with either Koni dampers or Billy's if you budget allows for them.

S2 is much heavier than a 2.0 You'll get a corner for £250, afraid you've chosen the wrong car for reasonably priced parts, these aren't Golfs or Polos, in fact you can buy a Golf or Polo for the cost of most upgrades, my front brakes used to be a mk.2 GTI for example

Is it an S2? Says CQ in the top thread, it might have been a little early for me to read and compute...

Stick with HnR or Eibach for a CQ, they'll not be too much money, dampers will be cheaper than an S2 too, still looking at £500 for a basic setup or £750 for KW coilovers unless you get lucky secondhand.

Link changed to relevant product It's a 2.8 V6 CQ

Gotta be better than chopping the springs I have, right? I couldn't justify spending £500+ on suspension just at the minute, especially since the car was only £565 in the first place!

I'm sure it'll be as cheap as my Golf (ok maybe not SO cheap that I usually end up in profit ) if I look in the right places

What I need really is a forum full of idiots - the Audi equivelent of E38 forum some guy on there straight swapped his G60 brakes for a set of 16v brakes I had lying around because he wanted smaller wheels... He actually downgraded his brakes in favour of looks

You've got the wrong springs for a start, coupe has B3 style suspension, not the updated B4/B5 style.

If it's not lowered already then you'd not do too badly fitting the S2 stock springs, they're lower than a stock car but the same as the sports suspension, 1BE option I think that is on the chassis/service book sticker.

Speak to DarrenM, he's got a V6 or did have, I'm sure he'll shed some experience on the issue.

I have much to learn, I'll know this all inside out like I do VW's eventually

I assumed B4 on the outside B4 underneath, it says 84-94 which would be 3&4? does the S2 have B3 suspension aswell then?

I graduated from the VW skool 6 years ago, keep my eye in every now and again

You want the front and rear springs to look pretty much identical for a coupe.

As for B3/B4, there's a really confusing thread somewhere... the coupe is basically B3 but was facelifted to a B4 to keep the company style. Avant is B4 style with twin wishbone rear, coupe gets macpherson strut...
