I chose not to choose life: I chose something else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who need reasons when you've got quattro? -
thats not like the one on the front of my 20v quattro, unless mine is different for what ever reason, mine loops over the drive shafts and connects at the front of the strut rather than the back - did they change them from the early ones to the late ones?Attached Files

Aren't you caomparing to completly different animals? The rear ARB from a 2000 S4 fit rear of Avant and Sedan. The front ARB from a 7A fits the rear of a Coupe. So yes, they look different...mainly 'cause they are different.
Only reason to fit a 15mm S4 bar (there were apperently S4 sold with 17mm bars too, listed as HD) is that it's way more common than the 16mm RS2 and the 17mm RS4. 16mm did alot but I want more... And that is with stock 26mm front ARB! With a 28mm RS2 FARB or thicker you have to go to 19mm or 20mm RARB, no doubt.Comment

OK guys. Finally I got my setup changed to the good. Now I can sit very relaxed and drive corner like never before. This is what I have:
-Poly bushes
-KW adjustable kit
-RS2 FARB*
-Whiteline RARB* with the medium setting.
* = fitted yesterday
It feels like a totally different car now. With standard ARB's it was just not fun to drive fast around corners Understeer like hell. Now I have to get used to the new performance level. The response to steering is much more direct. So far I did around 100km. So not that much yet. I try to fine tune it to my taste. I already know that people don't want to sit on the passenger seat when I drive sporty.
Does anyone have the same or a similar setup?Marcel

I'm halfway there, everything except the KW's and FARB. Instead of coilovers i have lowering springs and the standard CQ FARB, but that just balances out with using a lower setting on the bar. The whiteline made as much difference as the lowering springs i'd say. Transforms the car completely.
Although i would advise, whatever setting you find to be "comfortable" on the road will be "interesting" if driven in anger on the track

It does matter, the length of the drop links change the motion ratio (and hence stiffness). As parts move and rotate in the suspension the components become misaligned meaning some of the force transmitted to deforming usless stuff.
In effect through your suspension travel you ARB will become stiffer/softer at different points. By changing drop link length you change where and how fast these transitions happen.
I hope this makes sense. Anyway interesting thread to read.Comment
