Just to add a bit more into the mix I have several different grooves machined in my rear struts. Before I had the bump and rebound modified on my front struts it sat level with a grove around 20mm lower than the original. Now the front struts have been 'tweaked' the back is lower than the front so needs to move up a groove. I will wait until the rears have been 'tweaked' first though and see how it sits then.

That's an ideal solution to the problem.

Good idea, first I'll get me some spring compressors.

I beleive it holds the alloy spring platform in place, which you can see in the pic above the grooves.

                And here is the mod:

For those that dont know the alloy hat sits on the lower ring which is 20mm lower than the standard ring height.

How does the Bilstien set-up with standard RS2 springs handling & ride compare: 1) To standard RS2 set-up. 2) Koni's with standard RS2 springs

having just read this post... can i confirm before i get these machined that it is 20mm towards the lower mount...and this is for standard ride height springs....

I have searched and it only came back with a few results....
Can anyone tell me how deep the groove should be?...or the diameter the circlip now rests in?..

Ill take a pic of my car and post it up today. I think it could come down another 5mm to be level with the front.

Here is a pic of my RS2. The car is on standard springs with Bilstiens. The rear Bilstiens have the 20mm mod:
