I salvaged two good boots from the 2 sets of arms I had - i struggled to find some new boots the right size although IIRC Andy P did.....hmmmm or it might have been someone else....

Now sorted, my dad suggested I have a look at the boots on an old set of drop links-perfect, pop straight on and all the clips can be re used with a little care.

FYI I found the easiest way to remove the boot was to clamp the threaded part in a vice and lever the link until the ball pops out, the boot and clips can then simply be removed without damage..

you managed to pop the ball out?
Not sure you should be able to do that!

I have a full set of front and rear arms here to use as a template. The problem at the moment is finding a suppler TBH. I'll see how the seat frames go. The issue is that small manufacturers are normally quite specialised and so a part with a combination of welding and machining has to be sourced from multiple suppliers.

A set of rose jointed front and rear arms really isn't a complex part, if there's interest then I'll get working on it.

I was popping the ball out the old drop link to allow easy removal of the boot without damaging it to then fit it to the tie rod end which had a knackered boot.

Yeah would be a bit worried if I had just popped that out to grease it up

Was just mentioning it as its something that takes a couple of secs to whip of your old droplinks (if boots ok) and may come in handy.

the 034 stuff is way over-priced.

i got the ball-joint studs from that kit for $38/ea USD. then got my own rods for ~$10 USD each. sourced the Heims, and i was complete for less than $200 USD. much less if i had not been drinking the night i purchased the Heims (rose) joints and got the spendy ($40/ea USD) ones instead of the lesser expensive.

see, the 034 kit is those studs to replace the ball joint and the radius rod only and you have to source the heims/rose joints yourself.

here are mine. i did the front as well....

and FWIW, there are companies that offer covers for these Heim joints to protect from dirt, etc.

my car is only a (enclosed) trailered drag race chassis, so i personally do not care of those rod ends are protected. they will never get the use a street car will.
