i still maintain that if you take a point on the disc (for argument's sake the OD) and it measures the same thickness all the way round on the calipers, but on the dial gauge it shows a deflection, then you have a warped disc.
If you read the 3rd paragraph from the article you will see that it says

" With one qualifier, presuming that the hub and wheel flange are flat and in good condition and that the wheel bolts or hat mounting hardware is in good condition, installed correctly and tightened uniformly and in the correct order to the recommended torque specification"

So you see the article is not wrong as it doesn't completely rule out a disc warping.

Ok, well fair enough. I'm pretty sure that my 15-year-old second hand brake kit didn't meet all (or even any) of those qualifiers!

It happens a lot the thread descends into chaos and you end up spending 10 posts arguing with people... it takes all sorts to make up the forum, they can't all be engineering minded even if some of us are You should start a ranting thread, it might be quite amusing

Anyway, wait and see what happens, I think it was the corrosion between the disc and hub that did it, I've started to reduce my copper grease consumption to stop things working loose and this is the first place where it's actually worthwhile to prevent water ingress...

Yes, I'll be going Brembo next time but I'll try and at least get this set back on the straight and narrow. I've got a spare set of part used Textars that I can stick on these to try something different to the demanding DS2500s.
