H&R cup kit front axle m50 or m55 version?

Anybody that can help me out here?

I'am going to buy a H&R Cup Kit for my 1992 S2 Coupe.

However this is what they have everywhere:
    29939-1 Audi Coupé Quattro ("S2") Typ 89 Q
    VA:30,rear axle30, 29939VA1, 29939HA1, front axle M50 x 1, 5 Approval

    29939-2 Audi Coupé Quattro ("S2") Typ 89 Q
    VA:30,rear axle30, 29939VA1, 29939HA1, front axle M55 x 1, 5

Not can anybody tell if i should get the M50 or M55 front axle? Or how to meassure it?

I think iam going with the original strut bearings (green ones right?)

    Best Regards

I'm assuming the M50 and M55 measurements refer to the cap which screws down to hold the strut insert in place.

I've had a look through the family album and all S2's (coupe and avant) use part number 431 412 047 B. I don't have tech details about the size of the threads but I can tell you from ELSA that on S2's the tightening torque is higher than standard quattro suspension so I would have thought the cap was the larger (M55) version.

MartynF should be able to check the diameter on his system.

Thx alot, on the danish dealers page it says topbolt=M50 or topbolt=M55 which actually means top bolt, so i guess what you say seems right.

Just measure the diameter of the strut, the 5mm difference is easy to determine wether it is 50 or 55 mm.
Mine has 55mm struts and I'm almost 100% sure that all S2 have 55mm struts.

Is it the strut on the picture where the yellow arrow points?

Yeah, the diameter measurement is for the shock insert which goes into the strut that is bolted to the chassis. so not the daimeter of the rod with the thread shown on your pic.

                You have the M55 version.

It's the cap thread under the rubber dust cover inside the spring you want to measure.

                  Jonas,

The bit that needs measuring is the thread on item 13 in the diagram below. It is the cap that screws down onto item 17 (suspension strut storage) to hold the shock absorber in place. If you measure the diameter of item 17 you will be able to tell if it is M50 or M55.
