I put the rs2 for a mot the other day and it failed on top mounts... So i set about fitting the new ones but i cant get the wheel nuts off!? Thay have been put on FAR too tight and the locking wheel nut on one side is ******d and so is one of the nuts on the other! I have tried irwins bolt extracter but the locking nut snaped in two!!!!
Anybody got any ideas??
I had the same on my RS2, the alloy nuts just feel apart. I ended up drilling out the stud which took all of 6 hours!
Hope you have more luck then that!
See if you can find a 12 point socket the next size down and hammer it on, then use an impact driver. If you haven't got an impact driver can you drive it to your local tyre place and use theirs?
id go with the above the alloy should come away like butter and leave the metal stud in good condition. ( id only do this after the smaller socket big hammer trick)
Well the mrs treated me to a meal for my birthday last night, then we hit the pubs for quite a lot of drink! :-)
Woke up this morning and it was like a sign from the gods how i was going to get that dam wheel off!!
After 7 hours of heating, hammering, chiseling and swearing yesterday. I woke up this morning with a smile on my face because i realized how i was going to get the snaped nut out and the wheel off!
Step 1: get a cordless drill and insert a hole saw as close to the size of the wheel stud as u can.
Step 2: start drilling the nut off the stud.
........3 minutes later......
Step 3: take the wheel off!!!
So a job that was suppose to take an hour max ended up takeing 8 hours and at the cost of 2 wheel nuts.
Anybody got 2 wheel nuts for sale give me a shout?
And if anybody ever gets a stuck rs2 wheel nut thats the quickest and easyest way to get them off...
