    Loss of power steering fluid

AAAArrrggghhh, what next? starting to lose fluid now from power steering tank, cleaned it all up to see what's happening no obvious leakage. Think maybe seeping from the rams! is that the right word for them? any usual suspects for this sort of loss when not obvious?
PS just had a new pump fitted as that used to weep but now is bone dry so not that

Had it up on the mechanics lift sprayed cleaner everywhere, including my eyes, cleaned it all off watched for a while. Nothing jumped out at me but like you say loads of possibilities, should be great fun trying to find it.

if its not the pump, then its either the rack, bomb, reservoir, servo or the fluid lines themselves. Follow the circuit until you find a sticky wet patch

I can agree it's nasty stuff - had the bottom of the front sub frame constantly covered in the stuff. It turned out that a jubillee clip on the bottom of the reservoir needed an extra couple of turns and it's been dry ever since...

i had the same issue the power steering pump seal was leaking. at the end went through 4 refurbished powere steering pumps and all were leaking from the seal which you can see from the top of the engine.

replaced it with a used one at the end.

MMmmm sticky wet patch is basically the whole bottom of the car, try to clean it of best I can, might get it steamed, is this a good or bad idea?

Steering rack is not easy .. slightly easier on an ABY without the battery tray in the way.

Brake MC and servo, ISV, inlet manifold, downpipe probably - never done it on an S2 mind you.

On a 3B with the battery tray I'd rather pull the engine....

where is it leaking from on the rack? sure its not the hoses?

Still checking things out but it does look as though it's the rack
