    'High Density' rubber wishbone bushes

I thought I should put a quick post up as I couldn't find much info on these... I wasn't quite convinced enough to go for the Powerflex front wishbone bushes on the RS2. Comfort really is priority over looks (why else would I be on stock springs )

So - I heard Quattro Corner supply a set of high-density rubber bushes as a comprimise and decided to take a punt on them.I haven't had the car aligned yet but took it for a quick blast after picking it up last night for some first impressions.

There is maybe a tiny bit of vibration, but the fact I couldn't decide means it's very minor if so. Improvement in handling was very impressive. Initially it felt a little more responsive, definitely more planted and 'sure' of itself nipping out of town - once I got it on a few twisties, the advantage was more pronounced... I took it down a few twisty, wet and bumpy lanes that would have had me nursing understeer previously and I could really attack them. I could give it WOT in 2nd and 3rd, through corners, with real confidence that it would turn in and respond. Actually it felt very neutral, and rather than understeer being a problem out of slow corners on the power it was the inside wheels spinning up as I was WOT where normally I'd have had to moderate throttle...

Lovin' it and can't wait to get it aligned, and can recommend great positive results without squeaks and vibration from Quattro Corners bushes

Sounds like a good product that tbh is well needed on a S2 !

Good result. So are they the Meyle ones Ross?
Imagine the same improvement again on top of what you have and that is what poly bushes are like

Yeah they are the Meyle ones. We'll see how they last but it muts be an improvement over stock.

I must admit I did find myself thinking "firmer suspension, poly bushes and another 100hp would be fun" I'm still convinced I'm getting the balance on 'fast road that still works as a family car' spot on though. Wish I had the old avant as a 'track car'

New bushes always make an improvement over second hand OEM ones.

How much did you pay for the bushes?

I think they were £12 each , x4 for the front end. Plus postage.

IME there is no "downside" to the powerflex wishbone bushes. They are still compliant without adding vibration, but add a lot more control. Glad you are happy with the uprated rubber ones.

                Cheers,

I need to get myself out in a car with poly wishbone bushes really then... problem is, I'd read others reverting to stock but then i don't know what the rest of their set-up is that could contribute to excess vibration.

I have to say, making it to a stage with the car where I'm tweaking the handling rather than simply getting it moving is the best part

Hi Ross, you had a ride in my car and that had polybushes. They're great .

I noticed a small increase in transmitted vibration into the cabin with the addition of the polybushes, but that's also in part due to marginally stiffer RS2 H&R's and Bilstein Sport dampers.

Having now covered some 9 months with the poly's I wouldn't ever consider going back.
The huge step forward in braking and steering response is well worth the very small increase in cabin vibration, which I do not notice anymore....

I have polybushes in front as suggested and fitted by Rob, and i must say im impressed, however unless i change my shocks and topmounts i wont be able to fully appreciate them!
