    Subframe Arseache

Took the subframe to a garage to get the bushes pressed out, they ring me up and say they couldn't get the press on it, got one bush out, it took ages bla bla. They weren't there at the time, but I picked this up...

:corey: 's used an air chiesel! Now, with the other bush not out and the polybushes not there at the time, I thought maybe thats how it was. Took it to another garage (who I should have taken it to in the first place, but are always pretty busy) who did this....

And the new polybush fits lovely in that.

The other 2 literally pushed out by hand.

Anyway, the new bushes don't fit in that, so I assume there is a sleeve that needs to come out of that. PO painted everything so its not too clear...

I'm going to see if I can get someone to knock up a press fit lipped sleeve for that corner.

Worst case I've got to get a new one.... Are front subframes the same all 80 models? Quattro, coupe, saloon, b3 etc... Its only a B4 tdi avant.

    Cheers

Can't remember which way round they are (front/rear) but yeah on 2 there's definatley a sleeve that should come out, and on the other 2 one is fine, and one is seems there is a sleeve that shouldn't have come out.

Yep just chisel out that last bit it's part of the old bush.

ABY subframes are different to 3B and they are both different to other 80 models.

I have a front ABY subframe spare if it comes to sourcing another.

Yeah, its not really that that's worrying me, its the first picture where there should be some sort of sleeve.

That first pic does look quite bad, part of the subframe looks to have been crushed or scraped off. This might stop the new bush from fitting properly. If in doubt I'd change it, front subframes are quite commonly for sale, it's the rears that are hard to get.

Yeah the new bushes has about 3mm play, no chance of fitting.

That subframe is scrap. They have chiseled off half of the reinforcement ring. Incompetent ******s :corey:

Seconded. They have made a real hash of that one. Replacement subframe required there...
