I will be putting up for sale a set of 8 inch by 2.5inch ID springs with 250 and 325lbs stiffness for anyone wishing to use Bambridge stuff. These would allow the car to be fairly low compared to my taste and good for spirited driving and track. Not for putholes

My set up is not a tight fit on the shocker tube. The Ali threaded tube is supplied by bilstien so fits perfectly. Yes the original spring size is retained but its cheap and easy to have a pair made in any rate you need.
Don't forget, H&R, Eibach etc are very good at their job. Me for one have far too many more important things to do than mess with spring rates on a road car. Nice to alter ride hight though.

True. Having said that I already tried to have a set of springs made, by a reputable shop in the UK which messed it up. The springs they made according to the desirable made the car like an all road rs2. Not funny! + not cheap in the end either.

Hi Vas,
One thing to keep an eye on, the generic springs you have on in my experience change. What we do for the race cars is find the rate we want then get eibach ones the same rate.Rob..

Hmmm. Interesting info. How soon does that happen?
These are faulkner springs. Have no clue of their reputation and endurance.

Edit: checking eibach catalogues, they dont make 9inch 2.5ID springs apparently. They go from 8 to 10inch free length. While this is sort of ok for the front as 8inch may do the job but they do get fairly compressed and can bottom out, the rear could only go for proper adjustment with 10inch free length but the lower perch situated at the very bottom of the shock absorber. Hopefully the updated lower perch from Kev will do the trick and will be safe and secure.Last edited by A80Avant; 27 November 2012, 12:44.Comment

just to mention, Brian also changed the bulbs in my car during this visit...

That was just to break the monotony of spring removal, replace, removal, replace, removal, replace, removal, replace, removal, replace, removal, replace, removal, replace, removal, replace, removal, replace, removal, replace, removal, replace.....

This is the setup of the springs i will be using. All have arrived so
fronts: from 250lb 8inch i will use 225lb 9inch
Rears: from 300lb 9inch i will use 315lb 10inch
Faulkner springs again, and they were very good in making the rear set custom made(as they carry from 9 to 11 inch on 2.56ID springs), so i asked for that in between solution as it will be hopefully ideal from the experience i have had so far.
The rear setup that bambridge makes has the option of being fitted with the top or bottom ring on the bilsteins, which all of us make to accomodate the original springs, as they come from the S4. So currently i have it setted on the top groove. Using the 10inch rather than the 9inch spring may make the car sit fairly high, but if i move the lower perch to the bottom groove, that will gain me a 20mm drop. So the options are there. Once we have the springs on the car, i will update this thread.
The front 8inch springs though good, they tend to easily bottom out on fast city driving on road abnormalities and bumps, so the 9inch will be ideal for that, and Brian has already tested the 9inch on his coupe although much stiffer. Im happy with the 250, probably happier with the 225. We shall see!

anyone knows the shock length? fully extended from hole to hole.
And the width of the top and bottom eyes?Comment

Rear shock yes. Bilstein, original, koni. Dosent matter. The lenght would be different I know, but I need rough measurement. eye width is important. ThanksComment
