    Avant Front Shocks

Put the avant in for mot just before Christmas and it failed on a front shock, too much play in the slider. Phoned ECP for a price and was a little surprised by the price, 126 +vat each.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to the best place to buy from? Also, if its going to cost me that much do I have any other options for a similar price?

Wrong area I know, but I also need the flexi hoses which join the two hardlines on the strut. Any suggestions as to best place to buy?

    Thanks

Hi Alistair, that's no problem, can you please confirm the exact model Audi you have? I don't want to assume it's an S2 just in case...
            Many thanks

B6 Sport fronts are £130.00 inc VAT each, I believe you won't find these cheaper anywhere else...?

Tried Andrew Page. They deal with Munroe shocks who apparently don't list anything for the front.

                  The search continues.

That seems like a decent price. Does anyone here have these on their car? What are they like? The rest of the car, springs & shocks, is standard. Will these be suitable?

Sorry for the multiple questions. I've not dealt with anyhing other than standard suspension before.

Just spotted Koni Sports for £139 inc vat each. Product code is K-86-2086SPD2. These are adjustable aswell although I don't know if that is on or off car.

                    Thanks

Hi Alistair, I'm no expert on suspension either but I do know that these are pretty much the best you can get for direct replacement. The B6's are designed to work with standard springs and lowered springs of upto 40mm max, anymore than that and it's recommended to go for the B8's which are slightly shorter to accommodate really low cars.

I know there are a few peeps on here that are running Bilstein B6's and I'm sure they will fill you in...
                      Thanks

Thanks Yaz. I now have a decision to make. I've had a decent price for straight replacements from Pete at Quattro Corner. Question is, do I save money with stock replacements, or do I splash out on Bilsteins. I've also heard that the Bilsteins have a habit of blowing seals.

                        Any recomendations?

I've got the koni's and they've been on the car for over 10 years with HR springs. You adjust them before fitting.

I'm running B6's front and B8 rear - H&R lowering springs 30/30. Couldn't be happier, its on the harsh side for family transportation, just as we like it. I've had B8's on a rover 620ti and audi 80 avant FWD before.
                              Cheers, Torben
