A90Q rear wheel location in arch

Been fiddling around with a 20v 90 quattro today, I'm doing a 5 bolt swap to use B5 17" avus wheels, however poped one the struts in this afternoon and found the front the wheel is about 8 mm from the front the arch where as the backs about 50mm for the arch, hard to tell the rear bumpers off, but certainly isn't central.

My idea is to move the bottom ball joint back about 15mm if I can by plating the steel arm and drilling holes offset 15mm back. The issue with doing this is that the rear caster will be zero or infact the other way, this shouldent matter as far as movements in due to the road but I'm thinking its lilly to cause alittle squating under acceleration if I do this, anyone any input?

Hmm, I dont know if its just the balljoint thats different or the wishbone?

      From the cq20v service training;

The front and rear suspension of the new Coupe Quattor have been revised significantly when compared to the 1989 Audi 90 Quattro. The wheel base of the new Coupe is 11mm longer, and the front track is 42mm wider and the rear track is 7mm wider

The front lower control arms are a triangular design and are now made from stainless steel. The ball jojnts are larger and are attatched to the control arm with three bolts. The front castor has been increased from 1*15' to 2*15' to provide good stability. All the other wheel alignment specifications are the same as the Audi 90 Quattro
I have read about people fitting b4 wings to a b3, and needing to change wishbones/bj to centre the wheel in the arch.

      As and aside stainless wishbones???

whats the rear subframe bushes like?

subframe maybe out of alignment also

i have just fitted B5 rear hubs last weekend and caused all sorts of alignment issues as the B5 track is wider than a B4!

is the origional car a B3 or B4?

Andy, yep I have B4 ball joints and wings waiting, namely because I could only get B4 wings and more castor will be nice... However its the rears have me concerned
But yep, they are forged stainless, going use a set the front my ur and see about a set aluminium ones either later or for the back, depends the notion I take. They are blooming heavy in comparison to the pressed steel affairs

Chezz, do mean subframe alignment or use a set off set mounts to bring the whole lot back?

Sleeper, The cars a B3 quattro but the wheel looks be in very similar place as one you showed on your B4, however issue seems gone away when its lowered... But I really want keep it on stock sports suspension with the bilsteins....

well the B3 is totaly different in the back to mine, but again as you said, once it was significantly lowered, it centred itself so to speak!

i can still measure from sill to hub centre, this isnt an issue

Rebuild the rear end over weekend with poly wishbone bushes and solid subframe bushes.

However I discovered why the wheel sat so far forward, since I'm using A4 flanges pressed into 1 piece struts I had pick up ur quattro ball joint holders and not the 90s which have a different offset backwards, put the right ones in now and wheel sits fine. Set of 20mm spacers arrived now to so hopefully be looking spot on now. I'll post a picture if I can

The b4 has always sat close to the sills on the rear wheels, I lowered my Last 80 tdi and the other 80 sport and the wheels sat more central

kulster: they sit closer to the rear bumper on FWD cars, on quattro cars they are centered...
