I know some of you have put front hubs into rear uprights by machining out to suit 82mm bearing. Is there really enough metal left after ?? Car is going too get very hard time(gravel rallycar) Also speaking of front hubs, the A6 ones i had planned on using dont work, so what is the closest thing to a S2 front hub that is available??And whats the difference compaired to S2??
thanks

Have never tried myself, only have info from mates:
UrS4 rear, UrS6 both front and rear - all the same. Machining required, hub offset is decreased about 4mm compared to original S2.
V8 D11 rear hubs have larger offset than UrS6's ones, don't know exact figures.
One guy told me yesterday, that he has front hub carriers with front V8 hubs installed. He says that hub offset is the same as original 80B4/S2 one.
I will probably buy those hub-carriers from him later and will be able to confirm.
Front hubs from V8 are for UFO brakes and I think they need extra machining for reducing hub surface diameter so that simple brake discs could be installed.
I have machined my rears out to take front bearings. I think there is still enough material left in there to be strong enough. Could always be wrong though!
This shows how much metal you have left. The second picture shows how far the bearing sits back against the shoulder. There is a huge amount of metal left around it at the back so I cant see it failing.

In performing a brake upgrade using the V8 UFO hub carriers & hubs with Cayenne 18Z calipers I have found that the S2 front hubs set the rotor 1mm farther outward as compared to the V8 UFO hubs.
First picture is with S2 hub on the left & modified V8 UFO hub on the right. Second picture is of UrS4/6/6+ front & rear hub, S2 front hub, modified V8 UFO hub. Third picture is of unmodified V8 UFO hub & UrS4/6/6+ hub.

ok thanks for the pics showing the machined ones, ill get mine done then make the call on a strenghtening ring then!!
As for hubs we poor convicts here in ozzie land didnt get much in the way of audis, dont think we got urs4 or urs6 so is there something else thats worth a look at for hubs.
the offset is not set in stone as ive got to make brake package anyway, A6 ones have way to much but tried them and failed
thanks

I may be bringing in an engine/gbox shortly so tk throw some hubs in wouldnt be hard at all.
Im only in bris so throwing them on a truck isn't hard
that would be great. got my S2 stuff sent over by mr tonks so ive got two S2 front hubs but i need six more too build full set plus full spare set. Ive been looking at moding B4 hubs and its not really a big job so maybe thats the go , at least there are plenty of those here
did we get the urs4 or were they all personal imports??
thanks

I didn't measure it but I would say it has at least 5mm wall thickness. Obviously the deeper it is the more metal you have as the casting for the tie rod, brake calipers and strut all surrounding it. Been on the car a year now and no issues to report. I am sure somebody could measure up a standard rear housing for you then you could work it out with the difference in diameter between the front and rear bearing?
