    Wishbones & Wishbone Bushes

Very soon, the weak point in my suspension will be the wishbone bushes.

The car has pressed wishbones front and rear, which were replaced during my ownership. Although these are in good order, they still allow more fore-aft movement that I'd like.

I'm looking at lots of options.

Are cast front wishbones worth the money? I've heard they weigh a lot more.

Poly or delrin bushes? Poly creak, which is a bit rubbish.

    Custom arms? ££££££££

    All experience gratefully received.

Poly bushes don't creak if you install them with the correct lube

I'm going to build some tubular arms for mine one day... but for now I have the forged arms which along with poly bushes are IMHO the best "off-the-shelf" option

I try to make some of the bushes on my avant from delrin. Only problem is the lower rear bush on the rear suspension arm of the avant. Its not only moving up and down but also side to side. So i will use powerflex there.

I don't have driven the car with the new bushes so can't tell you about that.

I am going stitch welded stamped arms, poly bushed.

I believe the race cars that still used stock arms used the stamped arms (weight?).

I would also rather bend a wishbone if I hit a kerb, than subframe or worse.

The forged, and stamped arms also use a different sized bush, which is better, a bigger or smaller bush?

Alex are you going to rosejoints when you go adjustable?

        034 do off the shelf adjustable arms;

        $360/wishbone

        $285/wishbone

        Plus the dreaded import etc

Could you get some made up from a self lubricating material? Eg nylon, but I think that can swell up?

          Does delrin have any disadvantages?

Those are the older ball joints designed for the much lighter Type 81/85 cars. Not suitable (IMHO).

Delrin is self-lubricating and hydrophobic, so doesn't swell, like nylon.

If delrin bushes aren't available, then that might be something to look in to then...

Poly wise, Superflex, Powerflex or other?

I've never had an issue with the stock wishbones and that includes some track abuse, so I guess anything stronger and with better axle location will be better.

Do Meyle or other do HD rubber mounts?

Powerflex state that the black series part is the same.
