    Best dampers with H&R springs

    Hey!

I’ve got lucky and got myself a set of H&R blue springs for S2 Coupe. Now I wonder which dampers should I buy? I know that Cup kit offers Bilstein B6 at the front and B8 at the rear. A quick research showed to me that Bilstein dampers would be more expensive than two way adjustable Konis.

So guys, please suggest me a set of dampers that suits best for H&R springs. Which would You prefer and why?

    Thanks!

    H/R springs

Hi there just tested my H/R blue springs and new boge shocks with full polybushed car and bambridge mounts diff gearbox solid top mounts and can say it's pretty stiff but not a back breaker down some twisty bumpy roads. It's perfect drop with 18x8.5 bbs lm et37 with 15mm spacer hub centric all round

Well the thing with OEM shocks is that usually when springs lower more than 40 mm it is suggested to use shorter sport shock and as we know these springs should lower 50 mm. So maybe the best way would be to go for Bilstein B8's all around?

                    Useful link: http://www.europerformance.co.uk/blo...ein-b6-shocks/

Bilstein B8 Shocks have the same quality and damping power as the Bilstein B6 Shocks but with shortened piston rods. Bilstein B8 Shocks are ideal when used with a lowering spring of more than 40mm. The gas pressure technology of the Bilstein B8 shocks range offers a marked improvement in safety and sportiness. An excellent choice to uprating your vehicles suspension.

BILSTEIN B6 SPORTS SHOCK ABSORBERS (FRONT)
Bilstein B6 Shock Absorbers - if you expect more damping power from your shock absorber, but dont want to opt for an all out sports model, the Bilstein B6 Shock absorber is the ideal solution. The gas pressure technology of the Bilstein B6 range offers a marked improvement in safety and sportiness. These shock absorbers can be used in conjunction with your standard height springs or a lowering spring of upto 40mm. If you are planning on lowering more than 40mm we recommend to use a shortened shock absorber such as the Bilstein B8 Shock absorbers. An excellent choice to uprating your vehicles suspension.
The product benefits at a glance:
                    - Increased power reserves and service life, even when pulling transporters and trailers or during frequent journeys with loads.
                    - Optimum adhesion and enhanced lane change stability in both day-to-day and extreme situations.
                    - Marked improvement in safety and performance without additional spring changes (standard springs can be used).
                    - BILSTEIN gas pressure technology.
                    - BILSTEIN mono-tube/Upside-Down technology, made in Germany.
                    - Road and track tested by BILSTEIN for fine tuning.
                    - No German TUV registration required.
If you are going to be buying some lowering springs as well why not purchase a full suspension kit such as the Bilstein B12 Suspension kit

BILSTEIN B8 SHORTENED SHOCK ABSORBERS (FRONT)
Bilstein B8 Shock Absorbers dampers have the same quality and damping power as the Bilstein B6 Shock Absorbers but with shortened piston rods. These shock absorbers are ideal when used with a lowering spring of more than 40mm. The gas pressure technology of the Bilstein B8 range offers a marked improvement in safety and sportiness. An excellent choice to uprating your vehicles suspension.
PERFORMANCE YOU CAN FEEL AND SEE.
What lowering or sport springs are to aesthetics, BILSTEIN B8 is to performance!
The product benefits at a glance:
                    - Shortened high-performance shock absorbers for virtually every lowering spring set and series production sport vehicles.
-Sports settings with high level of comfort.
-Marked improvement in safety and performance with additional spring changes (lowering).
-Precision handling and optimised vehicle control.
                    -BILSTEIN gas pressure technology.
-BILSTEIN mono-tube/Upside-Down technology, made in Germany.
                    -Road-tested by BILSTEIN and fine-tuned.
If you are going to be buying some lowering springs as well why not purchase a full suspension kit such as the Bilstein B12 Suspension kit which is complete with the Bilstein B8 Shock Absorbers and a set of Eibach lowering springs.

                      Some more useful links:

                      porkkis
                      I'll try

                      - bilsteins are offered as B6 sport and B8 sprint
                      - B6 = normal length sport type shock
                      - B8 = shortened
                      - s2 coupe always has M55 front shocks
                      - B8 sprint is not available as a M55 front version
                      - All typ89 quattros have M55 rear shocks
                      - Bilstein offer both B6 and B8 for our rear axle
                      - H&R has the set that comes with Bilstein shocks, they're B6 front and B8 back

                      - Normal length rear shock (B6) combined with H&R rear spring will not create about any pre load
                      - That's why H&R supplies their set with B8 rears
                      - Front is not a problem as the spring is slightly longer
                      - Rafael should go for B6 all round as he is going to use standard springs

Front damper: PE3-3086, which is listed in bilstein's own catalog M55x1.5
Rear damper P36-3058, also listed in bilsteins catalog however it is M52x1.5

It is stange, according to this sheet they should lower 30 mm but according to this catalog they should lower 50 mm.

I believe that Konis now come in the H&R kit, so should be matched.

The Coupe H&R's lower about 30 mm on the front and 40 mm on the rear in my experience. I ran them with Bilstein B4's on the front along with Sachs sporting dampers on the rear which worked fine, I just found the springs themselves too hard for the roads in my area.
