Cannot find shocks that fit my S2

    Hi guys!
I've got a '93 3B S2. Got it for 3 years, however, since it was full of bodykits, glassfiber and other "tuning" materials, I've been rebuilding it from the groud up as a fully original S2, minus the 3B engine. Fitted an AAN into it.
As it's near completion, i tried ordering some new shocks. Ordered three sets and none of them fit my car.
First i tried ordering them by selectring the car in a local pasts store's database. They were smaller. Those were Monroe MR257 43.6mm diameter, 37cm length.
Second i tried to order them by the car's VIN nr. Monroe MR269 arrived, no good, same as before.
Then i searched the web for shocks by dimension. Ordered Monroe MR315(48.5mmx350mm). These are for the S6 c4. They fit into the struts, but are too long for the springs and don't fit the wheel bearing housing.
So I've hit a wall... the dealers don't know what to order, nor they could give some advice as to where should i look.
Internal dimensions for the struts are 48.5mm diameter and 350mm length. I just need some stock shocks at the moment.
    Got any ideas guys?
    Thanks!

The popular choices seem to be koni and bilstein

    BILSTEIN
    Front PE3-3086 Rears : P36-3017

You might be able to get boge fronts from dealers, and boge rears form boge themselves.

You might want to double check those part numbers though.

IMHO, skip the Monroe gas shocks they will be too harsh, in a bad way.

Aim for oil based Sachs shocks and you'll get fresh oem performance with comfort.

            Just my own tuppence

            Regards.

                Thanks all for answering!
I've taken a different route on these shocks. Ended up ordering four SACHS 100786, witch are oil based but smaller diameter(43,6mm). I'll have to make some spacers between them and the struts, and two taller caps for the rear struts.
Once the car will be road worthy, i'll consider getting some better shocks.
                thanks guys!

                  Guys,

I have a Saloon S2 1994 (ABY equipped) but can't understand what combination of shocks I need to use.

I already searched over the forum and did not find anything I understood.
A friend of mine told me that the rear shocks are the same as the Audi A4 Quattro (B5) and the front units are all the same (Coupe 3B/ABY, Avant and Saloon). Is this correct?

Does the S2 Saloon share shocks w/ another version of S2 (Avant or Coupe 3B or Coupe ABY)?

To be honest, when I search for shocks on eBay, for example, I only found parts for Coupe (3B and ABY) and sometimes for the Avant version.

                  Thank you!!!
