I would rather raise my RS2 than lower it
It would be a nonoriginal type mod, so it is banned, but it would have been sweet to put the ''Rough Road'' package that existed for the regular 80 on it.

(not opposed to lowering, of course, as I also run a pretty low and amazing handling Mk2 Golf on adjustable Konis and H&Rs (with one dead coil removed) and big swaybars front and rear.
That car is now Plastidipped matte black and is super sweet.

It does look really low compared to mine. They look much better, and probably handles better too. I'll get the car jacked up and see what suspension I have, if it's not sports suspension, then that what I will be going for, rather than aftermarket lowering springs.

        Hi mate,

Would you consider springs for your specific vehicle that lower 30mm front and rear? I can get these springs with custom ride height upon request. There is a small surcharge per spring to either increase or decrease the ride height.

They are manufactured by Cobra in Holland and come with lifetime warranty, a good sign in my opinion.

I can vouch for the quality as I have a set on my cabrio 50/40mm using factory shocks (only 17" Boleros) and the ride is no different to standard - just looks better!

Let me know if you need a price as I can purchase from them directly.

        Thanks

Just to add, I've just checked my Bilstein parts catalogue and it's suggesting that all URS4 Avant only have factory sports suspension with M12 bolt...

That sound interesting. Got a picture of your ride, as I still haven't decided on what ride height reduction I want. If I'm not mistaken, I have KYB shocks all round.

Mine is lowered by 40mm I think

As you can see I'm on 17" at the moment, ride is improved and a big stiffer

Tyres are quite thick? 50's? I've been thinking about 40-30 drop, leave rear a bit higher

Shorter uprated shocks are a much better option than standard if you do go with lowering springs. Certain combinations of Eibach springs and Bilstein dampers have proved popular across many chassis setups, anecdotally at least. But that's still gonna demand a bit of cash.

In my experience, after messing around with loads of shock/spring setups on loads of different cars, good quality coilovers (Weitec, KW etc) have always proved better composed, better damped, better quality, and much more versatile.

Modern coilovers (the afformentioned brands at least) are so well balanced between spring and damper rates that it makes it quite difficult, and maybe even a false economy, to eventually find a fixed-height mix and match shock and spring setup that does what you expect in terms of ride quality in comparison.

                  Just my tuppence!!!

If you are using lowering springs an you want good ride quality you need to have dampers with the correct stroke, and valved to control the different spring rate = same cost as coilovers. Buy cheap, buy twice.

Yes it def a good option and it won't cost much either.

Here's a pic of my cab:

Also, here's one of my old 100 C4 TDi with 60/40mm drop:

Understand you are on a budget, this is my cab with a 35mm drop using G-max rears and Sport-max fronts with PI lowering springs. Rides fine just a little crashy on very rough surfaces. Car was rebuilt on a budget so didn't want spend a fortune on the suspension.

Looks nice. Even standard suspension is a bit crushy on rougher surfaces I think, I know that my S4 comapred to A100 I had before is much stiffer. I don't want ridiculously low ride, just to improve handling and look a bit. Thanks for sharing bud.

I would highly recommend Supersport suspension kits, they're available from Venom Motorsport. I have 40mm drop springs and shockers fitted to my 16v coupe. I think it sits perfectly. Plus it's not bouncy and also it's not too stiff.

Suspension kit means scrapping my shocks, which I don't want to do as they're new.
