Well mine having the cast wishbones i certainly had no complaints with them at all and i am quite fussy. Brilliant set up for our roads.
Those later ball joints your talking about.....later speck ones, can you point out which ones as i am doing a 5 stud conversion using S2 hub with cast wishbones on a 2.6 80 avant.Cheers.

Most comfy setup is OE or do DIY coilovers with Konis and some low rate, progressive springs, so you can drop it and keep comfort but protect from bottoming out. Tonks does some balloon springs that are less harsh than KWs.
You know this by now but Poly bushes were not the way to go for comfort, nor were solid mounts... got to build a car for what you're using it for
You are so right i only did all this from advice on here i wanted a car for a bit of spirited driving now and again around the beacons but because i drive lorries for a living when the w/end comes iv had enough so the wife drives me around
Haven't quite forgotten about the front seats, but haven't taken the photos yet.
no panic with the seats david, going to concentrate on the underneath for the time being, ive an n.c.t. in 3 weeks times aswel so i want to refurb the front suspension then concentrate on the rear, ive 2 rear bilsteins already to go on the car so im going to stick with them and buy 2 new front ones and get oe springs,do u know where i could source these by any chance..also are these wishbones and balljoints any good

Fitting something with springs twice as stiff as stock is not going to solve you're issue and having been in both there's virtually no difference in ride quality HnRs to KWs.
Stick with stock springs and 16 or 17s for comfort or you'll spend well over £1000 and be back on here just as disappointed and with no dough in the piggy bank...

Stock springs and Koni sport adjustables work well on a coupe for rough roads, I've been running this for years now and it works pretty well. I think the adjustment is 1 turn from soft on the front and 1/2 a turn from soft on the rear.
I drive the same sort of roads as you Ray and I'm finally happy with mine after a year of mucking about swapping suspension components.
I've ended up on stock springs in combination with Bilstein front & Sachs rear dampers along with stock top mounts.
I had solid alloy subframe bushes which I swapped for Superflex poly items and that made a world of difference in regard to harshness, that job can be done without taking the subframes off the car, takes an hour to do though by rights one needs to get the alignment done afterwards.
I run poly wishbone and ARB bushes back and front which have been on the car since I got it and I have no complaints about them, I have a Whiteline rear ARB on the firmest setting along with an RS2 front ARB.
I have three sets of wheels, two X 17" one set with 215/45's trackday rubber and the other with 225/45's & Toyo T1R's as well as the stock 16" rims with Goodyear all season tyres which are currently on the car. It feels good on them all but the 16's are far and away the most comfortable, the ride is excellent with them fitted I can really chuck the car about on rough surfaces. Obviously I'd use the 17 inch wheels for track driving and I'll probably run them through the summer month's.
Overall I think that's a nice set up for fast A and B road driving.
