Help removing C4 lower arm balljoint from hub.

Help/advice needed please gents.I have come to a hault on stripping out the A6 C4 Quattro front suspension. Steering ball joints, calipers etc have been removed and the lower arm pinch bolts to hub have been removed but just can't excert enough pressure on the lower arm ball joint to remove from hub. I'm so close yet so far away from dropping front subframe with roll bar still attached. Please help.

Is there room for a ball joint extractor? I have one here you can borrow if so. Will take a pic in the morning for you.

I have a joint separator John thanks mate. I tried offering one up even though i knew it wouldn't fit in the vein belief majic might take over..No chance! there's only enough room to get a big flat blade in there an no room to lever. Richard (duffel coat) I seam to remember mentioned something about using a scissor jack and winding out the lower arm against I presume the driveshaft? Unfortunately I can't find mine.

Get a small chisel and drive it into the gap in the hub. Then a long lever like 6 foot plus from below subframe to arm to lever down. Job done.

The Robert Bentley manual specifically says NOT to spread that gap. But I agree with the 6 foot pry bar approach.

You just need to use some brains with the chisel. Don't spread it more than needed. I have found it to be the magic sauce a few times.
