Yes, correct pressures are definitely better than correct pressures divided by 2..

Incidentally, the B5 RS4 RARB is a direct upgrade for the S2 Avant, plug and play. I would guess its too short for the C4 though.Comment

I wish you would have started this thread sooner. Now I'll be swapping
my recently purchased 28mm front bar for my stock 26mm. I also bought
Albert's mounts for 28mm as well. I'm after more oversteer and have a v8
rear diff and the apikol rear sway bar.Comment

How a thicker or thinner front anti-roll bar affects understeer/oversteer is not something first exposed in this thread. The affects are well known. I don't understand why you would think that a thicker front bar would decrease understeer/increase oversteer. Just the opposite.
The thicker 28 mm OE front bar was designed to work with a relatively thin OE 1BE sport suspension rear bar. As a result, IF you installed it with the Apikol rear bar (much thicker and stiffer than the OE bar) which is also adjustable (somewhat), it should be better than the OE 1BE sport suspension set-up. I would try the 28 mm front bar with the Apikol rear bar before giving up on it totally.

Yea I made a rookie mistake thinking
the sport bar was the better bar for
road racing and getting power on oversteer.
If anyone is doing the same as me and going
with a 26mm farb are any of you interested
in Albert making some bushings and castor
mounts specifically for the 26mm? He needs
a minimum of 5 orders.Comment

First just try the 28mm in front with the Apikol in rear, like Dave told. It may be just fine so.

26mm from a breakers maybe worthwhile when one has already got a factory 28mm front arb, but new one may be too dear for the 'benefit'. From reading the thread it seems like the Apikol rear ARB may be more worth the expense.
When my Neuspeed rear arb snapped on my S2 avant, the car was fitted with Koni shocks front and rear and V6 fwd front springs, and some sort of factory'ish rear spring, ( I now realise I can't remember
) with a front RS2 arb, the car didn't feel as willing to keep it's tail coming around as it did before the bar snapped. I think it snapped from having soft'ish rear springs on the rear, and having the rear arb set to it's stiffest setting and really loading up on a long U shaped 'corner'. The car was restored to it's 'normality' when the replacement rear arb arrived in the post about a week later. But as I say the car wasn't quite right with no rear arb for the week.
In relation to the front arb, I think it is best to wait for Albert to make the castor acting bracket and bushes for the 28mm front arb, as Des and JP have said there was a very worthwhile improvement to be had when they fitted top mounts to increase the castor.
I'm keen to try out the Albert Bracket & Bush to alter the castor via the front arb being moved forward a bit while still maintaining the oem level of NVH by retaining the oem style 'rubber' top mounts.
This just my own tuppence based on my experiences to date, and what I've read in this thread.

My car came with the 26mm up front and no bar out back.
I changed it to the 28 up front and the apikol out back.

No biggy. All the North American UrS4s and UrS6s after August 1992 got the 1BA non-sport suspension
No need to bonk yourself. You now have a set up that is better than the OE 1BE sport suspension. Having a 26 mm front bar and the Apikol would likely mean you would have the Apikol set at its softest setting. With the 28 mm farb, you can probably set the Apikol at the middle or stiffest setting.
YMMV

So how do you find the car now with the front 28mm and the rear Apikol compared to before ?
I should mention that I apprecaite the fitting of any rear arb will make a huge difference, but allowing for that how is it ?
Thanks.

Alot less body roll all the time. Especially noticeable
at higher speeds and sharp turns/hard cornering. Your
car will drive like it on rails like a train track.
The reason I was skeptical about having the 28mm bar
upfront is we were talking in another thread about how
utilizing the stock 26mm front bar with the apikol rear bar
one would be able to induce more oversteer with the smaller
front bar.Comment
