    snapped P/S cooler hose

I need help with a part number if anyone is able to.

I've been travelling over xmas and new year so am now back in sunny Finland. I was waiting until after new year to fit a new thermostat and install an engine block heater. I have to say that installing the new thermostat was a PITA because the radiator has an A/C rad hanging on front. But anyway, I got there in the end but managed at the last moment to snap my power steering cooling hose, the metal corrugated pipe that runs past the front of the radiator.
I'm driving myself mad trying to find a part number for it (for a CQ20V 7A. I think it might be the same on a 3B though). I can't find it on vagcat. Does anyone know what it might be? The car is now immobile until I can sort this. I had thought about using epoxy to glue it and then a heavy plumbers tape as a temporary fix but it depends how long it will take to get a new one. The local scrappie here doesn't have any coupes/S2s/80s so I'm **** out of luck there.

I'm always worried about the one on my car, heard they can break just due to age/vibration.

I'm assuming this part is on the low pressure/return line?

      John.

That bit John posted wont fit right. You could just use some 15mm copper tubing to get yourself going and bend it to suit.

thanks mate. I really appreciate it.
Well that's a problem if they are NLA now. And to be honest I really don't want to pay 80€ for one. I think I will temporarily use a straight rubber hose (it will be really cold here for quite a long time) and I will try to find the proper part before spring.

Yes mate it's the low pressure return line. I remember that version from the V6 coupes and if I had one handy I might be tempted to try it (although it would require a lump of extra hose too, to span the width of the radiator). There are also some fair elaborate designs out there for other cars like these

The A4 has a more basic lump of straight metal pipe
          http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUDI-A4-B7...sAAMXQ3kNTg6vo
so I'm kind of tempted to just insert a section of straight metal pipe and see how that goes. Finland isn't exactly tropical most of the time

My thought was if it's on the return then why not piece something in that's easier to get hold of and less fragile.

Aha. you've posted that while I was writing my previous post. Yeah a lump of copper (or other metal since I don't know how copper would behave long term with hydraulic fluid) could be worth a try, just with a piece of rubber hose near one end, followed by another short piece of metal pipe.

              to the shop!!!!

Oh and I never said on your other post great car journey!!!!!!! Hope you sort it soon. Just be mindful that it might be worth trying to flare the copper so the rubber hose don't slip off.

I know. The shame! I had to go and buy a bit!!!
In the old days I would have had countless pipes, hoses and probably half a dozen of the actual parts I needed. I'm ashamed to only have one coupe these days. Once upon a time I had anything up to 6 at a time. Then I moved to finland.. Land of stupidly expensive cars
