thanks guys. it seems to be working ok for now.

Kit, is there a bomb for the p/s system? Not just the brake system? I spotted a slight weeping from what I think is the brake bomb in mine but I have no way to replace it right now so it needs to wait. brakes feel ok for now. Just wondering though if I could be mistaken and it's part of the p/s system? I didn't trace the hoses to check.

I think there's just the one bomb, RHS of engine as you look at it.

Yep mate, the bomb is solely a pressure reservoir for the brakes, effectivally the same as a servo, the pump is duel circuit, one for the PAS system, the other for the brakes. I doubt very much that the bomb itself is leaking, it's almost certainly weeping from the ferrule on the bomb end of the hose.

The brakes on your car were awful before I stripped and rebuilt them, I seem to recall having to take the pistons out of the offside front calliper to get it to operate in a satisfactory manner. Their still not quite as good as the ones on my S2 which is currently running stock brakes so the same set up a 7A, but I rebuilt each calliper from scratch and have Textar pads and drilled disks on my car.

One good thing is both the rear callipers on your car are fairly new and the handbrake mechanisms operate nicely, however both lower sliders were seized and the pads were rusted solid into the carrier.

you did a hell of a job rebuilding the brakes matey. I have to say that they are working nicely so any minor weeping of brake fluid is just that.. minor. And yeah, i'm 99% sure it's just the connection. I think I remember issues on previous cars with a washer so it shouldn't be a major drama. I'm definitely waiting for warmer weather to tackle it though.
For now I just need the thing back on the road. I'm already almost 2 weeks late to take it for it's first MOT here, which is part of the import process. I just bled the coolant system in -27 and maybe i'm a big jessie but it sucked balls. If I could get the door lock working now I would be very happy.
sorry I haven't emailed you yet by the way. I promise it's coming. I'm spending almost every spare minute on the car right now and hope to god I can drive it tomorrow and take it for its MOT.

Hmm, bleeding a cooling system at minus 27c doesn't sound like much fun at all, still spring isn't that far off now, though I guess it's more like May before it gets warm where you are.

Good luck on the MOT tomorrow, hope she goes through without too much bother.

No worries about the emails I know how busy you've been.
