  • Tool for Front strut cap nut

After a lot of googling I can track down the special long pipe/box socket (29mm) with 1/2" drive to be from KLANN. It used to be available from the mother ship as the VAG2069.

Specifically it is the KLANN KL-0050-1

Unfortunately I cannot find one in Europe anywhere. Anybody got ideas for alternatives - other than having something custom made ?

I have tried to schwing the nut off before with a good stilson wrench and scaffold pipe but that thing is on tight.

There are plenty of options on flebay, though i always just knocked them off with a hammer and chisel.

            Cool - isn't the 29mm correct for S2 - B3 and B4 ?

            I've not measured it yet.

Stilson and pipe always worked for me, but the odd few have needed heat if they had never been apart before. The hardest part is getting a solid hold of the strut, i even broke a vice clean in two hanging off one with a pipe

These have been on there for 23yrs - I had to check that age in my head there. Says something good about the OE dampers.

Maybe I will try a little thermal persuasion. Not sure my vice is up to huge abuse either - the bench isn't bolted to floor either. I digress.
