Nobody I know/have ever met would try to show the action of a shock (strut insert) in the way you have, i.e. effectively disconnected from the top of the strut, without restraint.

If you are complaining about the shock, didn't you try a push/pull on the shaft *BEFORE* you went to all that work to install it in the strut? That would make sense. Your "test" does not.

That is what I'm on about.

But all that said, let's drop it and move on. Nothing to see here (now) folks.

Yes I did, and they were fine. After installing and driving I noticed nose was diving and cats were hitting the floor. I've driven the car to show how soft they are, as you can seeI'm the videos. This was the last thing I wanted to do to be 100% they're shot before spending even more money and sending them off for testing.

Small update. "Initial dyno testing has found no fault with them so they are going back to the factory for engineer inspection."

Do not know how you test shock absorbers on a dyno (unless there is shock dyno )

What would be my options if they come back and say they're filly functional?

There are shock dynos. They just sound way to soft by design.

I see. They're gas shocks so I shouldn't be able to push them in with one finger. Also, when I push them in, they do not come out properly, they're like catching. When I shake them I can hear knocking coming from inside the shock absorber. Oil inside them slosh around, sounds like water.

If they are soft by design, then it is just misleading. If I purchase shock absorbers for an S4 they should be as stiff as originals. My 200k boge were as soft as new konis.

Is it possible that the spring is stronger than the shock?
