so guys tell me pls.. I will soon run with rs2 front arb and whiteline adjustable rear arb/ wheels 17x8.5 front & 17'x9 rear, will also be running on kw v2 coilovers..

Is there any prolems with larger width wheels in the rear with v8 torsen mod added?

I drive safely in crowded city roads and very high spirited in the mountain roads.... so prob no track days for me. My concern really is if the width difference in my wheels will lower or highten the performance of the v8 torsen upgrade.

      thanks,
      Anton
      Cheers mis amigos,

Didn't say that torsen=big RARB just that a big RARB would give much the same handling as raymor says his torsen does

Entering curve (turn in) while braking isn't a good idea is it? Mine also becomes unstable(oversteer) if I do that. Brake before curve, let off brake and let car "get back to normal" and then turn in. If RARB adjusted correctly it will make a sharp (normal handling, no over/understeer) turn in Give it some and car will tend to understeer(if not to much power applied), let off a bit and back end want to "step out". Very easy to control

Without rear torsen it's maybe easier to avoid oversteer when hitting right pedal going out of the turn.
Oversteer is fun and it looks fast, but it isn't.........

Here is what I have learned based on my theory classes. I think you guys are referring to oversteer as more a fact of 'powersteer'. Typically, and open diff rear will create a more oversteer prone environment. When you step on the power though...you guys that are turbo your inside wheel will break loose. Now you have uncontrollable understeer because the Torsen center sends power to front, then back, and neither has grip. With the Torsen in the rear, you now have the ability to get the outside back wheel to get power, which inables it to slide out. Oversteer is accounted for when you are off power, at part throttle. No throttle is bad, as it usually equals a lot of oversteer or spin (aka lifting). As I haven't been to a track day, I don't know how my CQ will perform in that aspect, but I presume it will be mostly understeer. With the addition of the Torsen, im not sure that I will have enough power to get the rear to break loose, thus I 'should' based on theory have more understeer.

Now here are my questions, in which some I will answer. The bases for my theory, as taught to me is that the rear wheels don't turn. So when they are both getting power in an LSD, the car has more of a tendancy to go straight (think Camaro/Firebird). Factories usually cover this by installing 25% or so LSD's, in which one wheel can turn 75% faster than the other. That means that the inside wheel can turn faster resulting in a neutral setup, albeit both wheels have power. When you up this to say 60% lock, the one wheel can only spend 40% faster resulting in the car trying to go straight more, BUT more controllable sliding. The totallity of it all is a 100% lock, where both wheels have equal power, and are spinning at equal speeds. Result is all understeer, but with nearly flawless control of evoked oversteer. So how does this compare on an S2? What is the lock on the factory Torsen? How will having more grip in the rear effect a 'lower' powered CQ?

I hope this makes sense! This is just theory from my experiences and what I have been taught. I would bet the 26mm rear sway and an LSD would be a great combination, and or aftermarket adjustable sway bars. Who makes an adjustable sway bar set, and where is it available?

Here in the UK quite a lot of us use a australian product made by a company called whiteline, they supply a rarb with 3 holes per side, mine has been fitted for over a year and i would say that it is one of the best susspension mods for chassis tuning
and on the front end we go for the the tried and tested RS2 farb

                Plug and play?

Will the gearbox and middle diff handle both 3.889 and 4.11 without breaking or changing anything else or should I choose any specific rear diff?
I am not looking for top speed but for good permormance at track.

you have to use the same ratio in gearbox as in rear diff if not something will go bad in gearbox or in the rear.some URq have the 3889 and torsengearbox.i have a very low weight on the car (1150kg) and small wheels(1800mm)

Okey. So which should I choose for my S2 Copue -94 without changing anything else? The original rear diff has 4.11 right?

Anywho, I picked the diff up today. I thought it was OK, just SEK1500, about £115. It only had 50000km on it (only feels wierd, I mean, that's far, but it's about a third of how far my car has run sofar!). Now, next is dismantling, cleaning and converting it to a higher TBR and then... mounting it in the car.

                          In tracks, power +++550 hp.
This rear torsen mod sounds very interesting. How do you do it?
I have lot off s2 parts in my car, also rearback.
My technical English is not so good, but I try to understand your answers

                              Here is a how-to guide

Have a good read through, some people have broken the rear torsen diffs in cars with a lot of power.

Tupi i have just had to change my shorts after seeing your car
Can we have some more pictures please?

Torsen makes the car drive very differently, much better "on power" balance
I think you might struggle with 550+ HP especially on track, the Torsen rear diff is great but its not strong unfortunately
