Gearboxes for 5++ hp

Hey all,

Because I am collecting all parts for my performance upgrade, I was wondering which gearbox will be best to use. I am hoping to get over 500 hp, maybe even 600 hp. I have a 3b box at the moment but I think this one will not up to this task. So which one is best to use:
- 3B
- S2 ABY
- RS2
- S4
- RS4
- S6 (4,2 litre)
etc.

I know Jeffers uses an EDU box from a 2001 S4 and this seems to be taking his abuse fine at the moment.

Personally, I'd go for a DGV from a A8. As strong as the Rs2 (wide first, flexible shafts!!!), lower 6th ratio (I don't know if that's good or bad...), prepped for gearbox cooling. Cheaper than most boxes too.

Uh? What's there to tell. Basically, it's a RS2 'box only better and cheaper.

DGV are from s8 :9/00-6/01(month and year)

What about a s6, 4,2 litre gearbox. Is this any good. There is one going on ebay.de for 500 euro. It has 88000 km on it. It has the following code AEC CKF CMG and it is from 1995.

Or has this a weak first gear.

Besides that there is also a (GKB) EEY box for sale. Dont know form which model ist comes from. Its new and pretty expensive, start price 1800 euro. It says, in the advert, that is has a stronger 1st gear.

I'd also like to say that there are two kinds of RS2 boxes. The early ones have the thin first gear. Yup, this goes against all sense... I've seen a box like that. There is a early and late build of 'em. Consult page above to ensure you don't buy yunk. Also, you really need to check through the whole page as it's not all that structured - the info is there, it's a gold mine, just be patient.

1991 Audi 100 quattro turbo box (016 Torsen 4.11:1)
1987 Audi Coupe quattro box (016 non - Torsen 4.11:1)

Both these boxes are way tougher than both 5 and 6 speed S2 units, the non Torsen more so.

What is the Gearbox Letters for the A8 gearbox? Is it with torsen and a straight fit? Do you have this info?
